This is another long chapter... but it's one of my personal favorites, so I will say it is worth reading. :) hope you like it.
Third POV: the institute was quite that night. the parents were either asleep, like Simon, or were in the planning room, doing clave work that was needed to be done.. there was a lot for the five of them after they were gone for so long. As for the children, most were sleeping, except for one. Lydia.
She was where she always was when she was upset. . . In the training room.
Jade was half awake when Lydia left her room... she new that her sister was still processing the shocking news just as much as she was. my sister is a warlock... and me? I don't know.
There was no knowing what could come next. Jade continued to struggle through sleep, trying to find something to distract her mind; parents are home, Derek is home, you are almost finished with your two drawings... but it was no use... she might as well have tried to go a whole day in training without fail. All she could think of then was of Lydia, and the voices.. what will happen next? what can they do to get rid of this, and most importantly... who was it? who was trying to get into her mind.... what did he want?
She had this aching feeling inside... something she never thought would come to her...
There was no voice in her head, only the pain in her chest. the pain of a darkness that would not end.... she couldn't let Lydia know.... she couldn't let anyone know. that was the only thing she was certain of- she had to figure this all out on her own.
Jade closed her eyes, flinching from the pain of Lydia's punching. But that's where jade was confused.... she didn't mind it... it was almost, comforting, even as she hated her sister for hurting herself. She let it go on for hours after hours.... still unable to fulfill sleep.
Lydia POV: I am freaking out, h-how can I. . . B-be a warlock? 189. . . . What if the clave finds out? I will be striped of my runes and exiled for sure. . . 195. . . By now there is a puddle of blood on the floor. . . 200. . . If I can heal with my warlock powers what else can I do?
205. . . The door opens. . . great now I'm going to get a lecture.
"Shouldn't you be in bed?"
I hear dad's voice echo behind me. I keep punching.
"If you have learned anything from being back it's that I don't sleep, like ever."
215. . . his footsteps continue. . . 220. Suddenly the punching back is pulled away from me. I give my dear father a death glare.
"What do you want?" I ask not interested in this crap
"I want you to one... heal your hands- and two..... go to bed." He says in a voice that seems to be him trying to be fatherly but failing. I roll my eyes.
"What are you going to do if I don't?" I ask being a stubborn little butt. He seems to be at a loss of words, like he didn't expect me to not follow his direct order.
"Yeah that's what I thought; now can I get back to training? Thanks." I say pulling the punching bag out of his grip.
"You will listen to me I am your father." He says sternly. But I still size him up.
"Yeah you may be my father but you lost the right to be my dad!" He flinches back
" damn it Lydia! go to your room and think about what you say before you say it! or you'll... you'll regret it. Trust me..." The look on his face was not one I've seen from him since the one time I called mother a 'short little bitch, mom' when I was 7. Mom wasn't mad at me though... she was mad at dad.. . the look on his face was pure hurt, and forced down anger, and something else I couldn't quite place. It made me regret saying what I did. But I'm Lydia Herondale I always get the last say.
