Math

Travis' pov

"So today, is the day everyone! Its Middleton's Annual Secret Santa!!" Mrs. Jones claps her hands excitedly.

Diane was secretly reading a book behind someone. It must be nice being short.

"Every year, the whole school participates in this activity! Plus this is for a grade. *ahem* Everyone in this classroom will have a secret Santa. In this bowl, there are small slips of paper. You will pick one and only one! You will either get a math problem to solve or an answer to a math problem. If you get an equation, you must find the answer. If you pick out an answer, stay in your desk and the person who finds you will sit beside you for this project. I will explain the rest later, after everyone has their match" I never heard of a Secret Santa. I stopped believing in Santa when I was 10, I knew something was up when I found wrapped presents in a closet-that fell on top of me as well.

Everyone picked out a paper, and started talking and walking around, I randomly grabbed one up, x=2. I sat back down, and desperate girls came up to me asking if I had the answer to theirs. "Nope." after like 5 minutes or so, less people were up.

Diane came up to me showing her paper to me, x+2=4.

"How are we always ending up together?" I raise a brow, I noticed a group of girls already in their desks, talking and looking at Diane. They stopped as soon as they saw me staring at them as Diane sat down. Are they jealous of a girl who barely talks to anyone just because she's talking to me?

(yes, Travis)

"What's wrong?" she looks behind her and then back at me, "Nothing pequeña" I always wanted to give someone that nickname. Mrs. Jones passes out papers and opens her mouth, "Now. You and your match will buy each other a gift. But you can't tell them what you are getting them. The school will have their Christmas party in the gym as usual, and you will exchange gifts in here. The dance will happen during school day, the dress code will be casual this time, and festive clothing, so flat shoes will only be allowed due to what happened last year." Mrs. Jones explains.

"What happened last year?" I whisper, "A fight broke out, and it involved high heels" Diane whispers back. "The party will take place next Tuesday during 7th period, after second lunch! It will last through the rest of the day. You must have your gifts by Tuesday so I can grade them. That's a whole week! However this is a project carried outside of the classroom! But you all can brainstorm and discuss the things that you like, if you do not know each other that well. We only have 10 minutes anyway. These papers are about the dance and dress code, if you're not going then let me know anytime before the dance. Students who won't be going will spend free time in the auditorium." Mrs. Jones goes back to her desk.
