The city library

Its raining, a little thunder in the mix.

Diane's pov

My eyes were glued to the TV, watching the news. Then I was back to my laptop, typing an essay that was due next week. I wanted to finish it and get it done and over with. I grabbed another book, found some information and kept typing, my eyes not one time catching a glimpse of the keyboard as my fingers danced on the individual keys.

The library was a bit full today so almost every seat was filled up, people reading, studying, or on laptops, doing class work. There was an empty chair across from me. The table was fairly large so it didn't bother me about someone being too close to me.

I gave my fingers a rest and re-read the paragraph I just typed, then closed and put up my laptop in my book bag, and took out a nice and thicc book. "Excuse me, um, may I sit here?" a small but steady, slightly-deep voice says.

I looked up quickly, seeing him. He had books in his hand, I now noticed he had ear gauges in one ear and a stud in the other. That looks like it hurt, his nerdy-stylish glasses gave him the smart appearance along with his freckles, spotted across his nose and cheeks like chocolate powder on a cappuccino, and innocent pink lips that was worth staring at- almost-like well, somewhat.

I nod, and went back to my book, but just realized it was Chance. Oh boy, how do I start this conversation? He obviously knows me, we seen each other many times in the hallways or the library or even in class! 'Hey, aren't you Chance by the way?' no, too....uh, too forward? 'Aren't you from Algebra?' he says yes, 'I thought so! I'm Diane by the way' UGH! Diane he's sitting down! Start when he gets comfortable and then boom! Just say it! My mind was in a small battle at the moment but I ended it with my voice, the only background noise was the sound of small conversations of whispers that filled the place along with the rain hitting the building.

"Haven't I seen you from Algebra?" I ask him, the facial expression of realization hit him, he slightly smiles, nodding. "Your face was familiar, are you Diane? Diane Moore?" how did he know my name?

"Yes? It is?" I say with question at the end. "I known you from Travis' instagram, and the volleyball team"
"Really? That's great I guess..." I trail off, ending the conversation. I found myself reading the words of Pluto and its surface (Poor Pluto:<), I glimpsed and seen him reading a book as well, 'The Great Gatsby?' I was forced to read that last year, the only thing I liked about it was the movie-where I went to sleep.

The narrator sounded like Sherlock Holmes 24/7. I went back to my reading, 12 minutes later, his voice rose again, "What are you reading?" "....Mysteries of the Solar System?" I say in question.
"You like astronomy?" he asks, noticing the other small stack of astronomy books beside me on the table.
"I'm in love with it." I reply.

"Really? I have an interest in that subject too." he says, putting down his book.

I almost shot up outta my seat, "Y-You do?!" I ask, holding in my excitement. He nods, "I like astrology as well." I'm gonna fall out of my chair. A cute guy in front of me, and likes the things I like? Oh boy. "I'm a Pisces. Just a fish" he slightly laughs. No wonder, a Pisces is mysterious, the orange in a basket of apples, the one who goes all left, yet is often said to be very sensitive and cries a lot.
"I'm a Sagittarius- the horse dude?" I say, not knowing the mythical creature's proper name.  "The centaur?" he asks, "Yeah, that one!" I confirm.
"You're actually the first Sagittarius I met."
"I rarely find a Pisces, you're maybe my third one so far" this is one conversation that I don't want to back out of. This guy is actually talking, he reminds me of myself-except I just find excuses to stop talking.

"You don't seem like a Sag. They're usually loud, well that's what they're usually depicted as" "Total opposite here.........Why are you quiet?" I blurt out the question so it could stop bugging my mind.
"I just speak when I need to" "Are you an introvert?"

"Well you can say that yes. I just don't like being around a lot of people, only a few." he adjusts his glasses. "Same here, but I just don't like people" I add in the last bit sarcastically. Diane that's too much, he laughs a little "It's just hard to wake up so early so I'm exhausted sometimes" he says. "What time do you get up?" I ask.

"6:30, I go to bed at 7" he replies.

"Seven?! Isn't that a little early?"  "I do gymnastics after school until 5, then I stay here for an hour, go back home, do some studying, and homework and then go to sleep." I almost got lost in his words.

"I won't be at Middleton next year, I'm going to college next year." he adds in. "You're lucky." I lower my voice as the whispers got a little quieter. I checked the time on my phone, '6:50' the shock washed over on my face, "Well it's time for me to go, I don't wanna be late" I say,  "What time is it?" he asks.

"6:50" "Really?" he asks, and begins putting up his things as I grabbed up my book bag and slapped it on my back, "Ugh. I didn't realize how much I was talking. I-I'm sorry I took up your time like that" I sigh in guilt, pushing in my chair with him. We walked through the library, on our way to the entrance/exit. "It's fine. I actually enjoyed talking with you, you're like one of the few that just I don't know talked to me?"

"I know how you feel. You want to talk to people so bad, but we just don't know how to approach people, so we just wait for what life has to treat us with" I refer. "Exactly" he agrees.  We make it to where the entrance is and notice it was darker than before, street lights on, rain pouring down, "Glad I checked the weather." I take out my umbrella out of my book bag.

"Well I'll see you tomorrow then, glad it's a Friday tomorrow!" I smile a bit. "Y-You're going to walk in that?" he points to the bad weather outside, "You're gonna catch a cold, its like almost 30 degree weather out there! My parents are picking me up-"

"It's fine. Thanks. I live near by anyway" I walk closer to the door. Sorry Chance, but I only just met you, maybe another chance.
