All of us was carrying a red sack full of presents. It's a lot of people over today- a lot of my cousins and relatives. We all wore matching Christmas sweaters or costumes and every year it was a theme. It's tradition. So you have to participate or get a whack of the shoe from my grandma, and it hurts. It's literally planned throughout the year, and we all decide on what to wear. It's been like this since Val and I were kids.
I didn't like some of the themes because they were really childish. Last year was Ruldoph the Red Nose Reindeer, and all of us had on deer antlers, red noses and light up sweaters. Don't get me started on Frosty the Snowman. This year? 36 people are coming..... The theme this year? It's the 12 days of Christmas.
We were all grouped by 3 of what to wear, based on the 12 days of Christmas....or the day we were given. We all can't tell each other what we got since it's supposed to be a surprise. But some found out anyway. My grandparents chose the themes, with the help of my cousin that lives with them....who also annoys me a lot, Marco. He's 21 and on a college football team who always like to wrestle me and call me a girl.
I look at him as a brother more actually. He's pretty tall, but I'm still taller than him, he's a bit more built than me of course, his hair was once brown, but now he has some blonde stripes in it, it's curly-wavy but it hangs down above his shoulders. He even has a septum piercing, you know the ring in your nose that makes you look like a bull? Yes, that one.....he sure does act like a bull anyway.
I was a bit grumpy the whole ride here because guess who got the Nine Ladies Dancing? It's embarrassing!
Val laughed her butt off when she found out, and dad too, we already knew who chose this one. I was really hoping for the Five Golden Rings, or the Twelve Drummers, something cool. But no, Val is a drummer and my dad is a turtle dove. I'm also one of the younger cousins and treated like one of the babies in the family. It gets annoying but at least I get more sugar cookies and churros so I'm not complaining hehe. My grandpa, is Fernando, 65 years old, he used to be a car salesman when he was younger, now he wears glasses and is known as a grumpy grandpa......except when it's Christmas. He's a bit tall, he has light brown eyes like my dad, they both look alike just about, besides the fact my grandpa has freckles. My grandma is Sabrina, who is 60, she always has her hair in thick black, grey striped plats, one on each side. She's a bit on the shorter side, has tanned skin and dark brown eyes.
You can guess where Val has her eyes from. She somehow has our grandmother's eyes. Val was wearing a red peacoat, black boots and black leggings with a drummer hat on her head of hair, that was in loose curls reaching her mid back.
My dad just wore a fuzzy white sweater, blue jeans and boots. And here I am with my hair down, a fat red bow on the back of my head, black jeans, boots and a pink sweater that went past my butt. I look stupid, Val was snickering the whole time. I had gold mini hoops that hugged my earlobes and my mom's gold chain out, glistening. I prepared myself for the worst this year.
