Val's pov
I looked around, just hanging out in the kitchen with a few girls I was talking to. They're my friends actually, "You think she's here?"
"Nah, I made sure she didn't come here. I didn't like her the minute she walked up in here. I told him and he didn't listen" I sigh. "What about that short girl-the captain of the Middleton volleyball team?" "You mean Diane?" "Yeah her, I think I saw you all on Travis' insta, about a sleepover?" "Yea. She's here somewhere, she's not really a party person" I take out my phone
You
Where are you?
A few minutes later she answered
the smol one.
Out on the balcony, i'm about to come in
the smol one.

You
Well come on down in the kitchen I'm talking with my friends.
I didn't want her to be by herself, especially when the house is full of drunks.
Loud rhythmic chanting caught my attention, I looked over at everyone, Travis was standing on a table chugging a bottle down, "GO! GO! GO! GO! GO! GO! GO!"
"Val we gotta go, you know we can't stay here right?"
"Yeah, I'll see you all later"
"Bye" my friends left, they were juniors so they couldn't stay long unless they wanted to be grounded. I saw Diane by the time they left "What's going on?!" she looks at the crowd chanting "My brother ignoring me as usual!" I try to suppress my anger, "He did a whole bottle already! Wouldn't that kill someone?!" she looks over at the crowd, as a crash of a glass bottle was heard through the cheering crowd.
"'Has a high tolerance apparently, but still he could overdose on it! I'm really worried because I don't know if he took his medication yet! ¡Él no escuchará!" I bury my face in my hands, feeling my straight hair fall past my shoulders, "Soy un fracaso...." "Val, you're not a...a-" "Failure."
"Yeah that-I mean no! You're not a failure! Listen, you can't help for what he does, Travis is literally 17! He's gonna have to learn in some way that'll make him stop... or take less?" she questions at the end.
"You think we should tell the others to come?" I ask, "They can't. Dom is out with his family, and Louis is at home, you know he's 16, and Mel's parents is...well you know." Diane explains.
I sigh. "So what are you and Travis gonna do when the party's over?" Diane asks. "We're spending the night here then moving back to our home....our new home" I smile at the end a little. "Ya'll not going back?"
"Nope." I answer, "I gotta clean up anyway."
"I know its gonna be a big mess" Diane eyes some people, "Nah not really, everyone knows I'm strict. Make a mess and you're not invited back" I laugh a little.

10 PM
Diane's pov
The party was over and the last of everyone was out. Many she was right, not a single cup or anything on the floor-well except the broken glass from earlier, but Val swept it up. Travis was on a couch sleeping, "Diane, can you check on Travis? I just wanna make sure he's okay"
"Drunk people do that. They sleep it off." I say as I walked over to him and poke him. "Hey. Are you still alive bud?" I grab his limp arm, I let go as it dangled from the couch. "Travis wake up, the party's over" I push him a bit. I pressed my ear against his chest, listening for a heartbeat-nothing. "What the?" I mutter, I heard Val's heels clicking, "Travis!" I shake him, checking his pulse.
"Travis wake up! I know you're drunk but at least shake a leg or somethin'!" I started to panic, "Val, I don't hear his pulse!"
"What?!" she almost yells, I step out of her way, I took my phone out, dialing 911. Val pressed the side of her head against his chest, "TRAVIS GET UP! STOP JOKING AROUND!" her voice trembles a little.
"911 emergency?"
"Gimme!" Val asks, I give her the phone. She slaps it against her ear, "I need an ambulance NOW! We're at the Mason's house we rented tonight!.....Lady, Travis Sanchez is lifeless and has no heartbeat, he's passed out from possible over dosage!...... YES HIM!" she yells. "I'm his sister! Our friend is with us, just us three! JUST HURRY!........... *Sigh* Thank you" she hangs up, and slowly gives my phone back to me.
She took in a deep breath, "I can't believe this....." I was staring at Travis the whole time, studying his features. "I was going to commit suicide actually, but instead I decided to maybe overdose and go to sleep" was Travis giving me a hint as well? If I was worth living for, then I was worth dying for. There's a dead body in front of me. His lifeless body is on the couch! In front of me!!
The flashbacks came back, how my whole family was with me: my uncle and aunt from Virginia, my cousins, gramma and grandpa, everyone. I remember when I saw them take off in the plane they left, and came back in two black body bags, then in a casket.
I never thought of how I wouldn't see their face again, to hug them, to touch them, to have kisses and pinches on my cheeks everyday when I came home from school. No longer hearing their voices, hearing them say 'Goodnight, princess' from my dad, or goodnight kisses from my mom.
Sometimes when I was in bed, I would feel a sudden cold spot right in the middle of my forehead, then gone a few seconds later-right where my mom kissed my forehead. I would see them in my dreams, they're only now a memory.
I'm losing everyone, now I'm losing my friend- a friend I have more than just a crush on. The guy I fell in love with.
