Diane's pov
"All juniors please report to the gym. All juniors please report to the gym at this time *SLAM*" the woman on the intercom said, and slamming the phone down, a few laughed commenting on how mad the lady was as everyone was walking out with no hesitation.
"Anyone not going can stay here, we'll go to the auditorium after everyone is at the dance you can all leave your stuff here." Mrs. Jones says, I was the only one not going. "You're not going?" Travis says, outside of the classroom at this point, "I told you I'm not going!" I hiss, while folding my beautifully fluffy sweater Travis gave me.
"Why though?" he sucks his teeth, "Because!...There's too many people there, I'm-I'm not going okay!?" I stutter, and felt my cheeks warm from the stupid stutter I made. Why did I stutter?! I scoff mentally.
"Fine, I did try, I guess I'll see you tomorrow then" he says. "Yeah bye" I say, and he walks off, soon people calling his name to catch up to him.A few of his friends I assume.
I let go of a breath I didn't know I was holding. Mrs. Jones was typing away on the keyboard, "First time I seen a student not wanting to go. Want to know what I think Diane Moore?" she says.
I look at her in curiosity, not knowing how to say the four letter word of questioning, she glances at me, then back at her computer, "I know it may not seem like it but, there is a reason why I had you two end up together on this project, Travis asked me actually." she explains, "You were the only one who didn't ask me to be partnered up with him. Every girl in this classroom asked me to have Travis as their Secret Santa, I just simply said, "Someone else asked, but we'll see" but yeah, Travis asked me to partner up with you." she continues.
".....What-I, Travis wanted to!? Why?!!" I hold up on my casual words, being careful not to be too casual with Mrs. Jones. She chuckles, I was shocked to see her laugh since she's a bit of a serious teacher, "Diane, I think you may know what I'm talking about as well, sometimes Travis likes to come over to my class during lunch, and talk with me, sometimes we run into each other, but I haven't seen him really have as much interest in the others like you. Do you understand?" she looks at me, I shake my head no ;w; .
"Diane, there is a reason why he wanted you to go with him to that thing. Do you not have friends there?"
"Yeah, but I just don't want to go....I have social anxiety" I reply.
"Things are a lot different with friends. I can't say because it's not my place to say this to you Diane. But I can't force you to go" she says, and with a few more clicks of the mouse, she stops and grabs her purse.
