Gym

Diane's pov

I sat on the bleachers, in my gym clothes. We have to change into gym clothes sometimes, especially when we're doing something big. I had on leggings and a  loose T shirt, what I usually wear for gym. I ain't showin' my legs! I went back into the locker room, where the girls were changing, and went to get some water, "Diane why don't you wear something more....fitting- like besides your volleyball uniform?" a girl asks me, "What?" I raise an eyebrow, "Girl, you need to show that stomach, just sayin'"

"You know they were looking at you right?" another girl comes up to me, slipping on a shirt. "....uh.." I was confused, and they could see it. More girls joined in the conversation, "Diane, there was a group of guys that were literally checking you out on the boys side of the gym."

"Must've been someone else." I go to the water fountain and take a few sips of water. "Ah, no. I even heard your name in the mix!"

"I think they were maybe talking about a different Diane?" I ask.

"Nah, they were talking about you" she points at me. "I-I don't see what's the point. I don't see anything on me that could be that interesting." I slick my hair into a bun, fluffing it out. "Travis didn't say that" someone says then a loud burst of laughter and a mix of 'ooh's' came about.

"Ugh, whatever!" I roll my eyes, "So...when is it gonna happen?" one of them asks.

"Girl tell her!" another says. I look at them both in confusion.

"Travis mentioned you in his insta. I mean a few times! Anything going on?"

"....I-" before I said anything else, Mel walked in, and the room went quiet, "Diane, I was looking for you! I need to talk to you!" she walks toward me, then eyeing everyone else, did a slow blink and looked back at me, "...Outside"

"We'll finish later Diane."

"Uh sure?" I walk out with Mel.

"Mel, stop walking so fast!!! You forget you have-" I stop as we approached the bleachers and looked the direction Melanie was pointing. "Why's he here?" I look at the guy on the bleachers on the boys side of the gym, reading a book. Chance? "Uh...yeah I see him..." I trail off, flopping on the bleachers, twirling my thumbs. "What's wrong?" "I-A lot just happened today."

 "A lot?"

"Yes a lot."

"It was him wasn't it?"

"I said a lot happened today." I repeat myself showing that I didn't want to talk about it, I'm just so stressed out. I have to make a choice if I really wanted to be in a relationship with Travis. Once I am in one with him, I'll get a lot of attention- mostly attention I don't want. And I have a bad feeling about this, I feel like that some how along the way... I'll be the one who'll break his heart. What's keeping me from doing this? Maybe the fact that I embedded the whole golden rule thing? 'No boys while in high school'

"Diane. What happened? You've changed a bit." I stop thinking. I slowly turn my head, trying my best to keep the nasty expression from showing on my face (uh-oh)

"What do you mean by that? ~-~" I ask with a cheerful undertone

"What do you mean by that? ~-~" I ask with a cheerful undertone.

"Ever since everyone is hangin' around you, you're not the same anymore. You're not the Diane I know."

"Ever since Travis moved here, you're not the same Melanie I know. You're the one that kept pushing me at him! Now Mel don't tell me it got to you too." I rest my head on my fingers while looking at Mel.

"No need to get defensive, I just feel like you're starting to forget about me." she sighs. "If I forgot about you, pretty sure I wouldn't be talking to you right now. Can we talk more about this after school? I have a lot on my mind right now."  I get up. "I'd rather talk about it now" she says. "Well I don't want to. We can talk later." I look at her, trying to compose myself as usual.

"So I'm your stupid peasant now?!" she asks. Before I said anything else, the whistle blown and gym class started.
