Chapter Thirty-Four

"What is it?" Kat asked as the three of them left the room, into the empty throne room.

"I'm going to need both of you to keep each other safe, please?" Bestienna looked at them like a concerned mother, "The next few weeks are going to be dark when Jake finds out about the prophecy." Isabel looked down at her stomach and began to tear up.

"I don't think I'm ready." Kat pulled her into a hug and looked into her eyes seriously.

"Look, I love you like I sister. You can do this. Should have waited to do anything, or been more careful, but you can do it." Isabel was still fighting back tears as worry flooded her mind.

"But what about Daniel? I don't want him to stay just because of the baby. What about Fiona?" Isabel managed to work herself up until a single tear began to fall down her cheek. Bestienna put her hands over Isabel's shoulders and sighed.

"Sweetheart listen, I say with confidence that Fiona isn't going to a problem... Involving your relationship. I just need you and Kat to stay together." Bestienna hugged her tightly.

"It won't be that hard since our boyfriends are brothers." Bestienna blinked in confusion and looked back and forth between the two women.

"They're brothers? Then again they do look very much alike so it's not a huge surprise." She pulled out four necklaces with apple shaped amulets on the chain. Bestienna handed Isabel a green and yellow one. Kat got an orange and red one.

"What is this?" Kat scrunched her nose at the amulets, looking at the realistic detail.

"You put the amulet under your tongue whenever you're in trouble and the others will flash until they get close together. They will keep you safe until help arrives," Bestienna swiped the amulet back before Kat could put it under her tongue, "Emergencies only." She said sternly, handing them back.

"Why four?" Isabel rolled her eyes at Kat with a sigh.

"One for us, Daniel, and Justice." They watched as Alise, Daniel, and Tyler walk out into the throne room deep in conversation.

"We have a surprise for you." Alise ran over while clapping her hands with jittery excitement.

"What is it?" Isabel asked as Daniel walked up to her and held her. He planted a gentle kiss on her forehead as they swayed back and forth.

"How mad is Arthur?" Bestienna asked, Daniel shrugged in response.

"We probably shouldn't stay too long honestly. Even though everyone is on the same council and page, everyone is being divided. They don't think Arthur should lead everyone." Tyler commented as everyone else began to clear out of the room as well.

"Who do they want to lead it?" Bestienna asked and both merfolk looked at her.

"I don't think I can do that. Bad enough I have to take care of two kingdoms until a fire pure element shows up." She backed up wearily and then looked at the pillars behind her.

"After Arthur made an idiot of himself in there, they want either you or Daniel to do it. He already said no." Tyler grumbled under his breath; Daniel turned to look at him.

"I'm going to be distracted for a while. Besides, I'm pretty sure Arthur can redeem himself. As long as he remembers that the two of us don't answer to him." Bestienna sighed at Daniel's comment.

"That's the thing. He probably already does see it like that. It doesn't take a genius to figure that out." She continued on, "Daniel needs to learn more about his powers. Unfortunately, he'll have to do that on his own like I did. Like I told these two, dark days are ahead." She said as Justice walked up to the group with Carlos and hugged Kat from behind. Arms over her shoulders.

"Is everyone ready to go back home?" Daniel asked and then Santiago looked at him with a weird expression.

"What do you mean home? Is everyone coming back to Austurias with us? Can you hold that many people on your back?" Eric cleared his throat from the back.

"No, but I can make portals remember? Or did you forget about me?" He stated with an attitude as an oval wall opened in the throne room with Isabel's house on the other side.

When Daniel and Isabel turned to walk through the portal, Bestienna cleared her throat, "Daniel, please take care of my snowflake. We'll have words if you don't." She said and laughed at the happy smile that appeared on his face.

"You have nothing to worry about. She's safe with me." They walked through the portal and watched the portal close instantly. They began walking towards the bustling city as sunset approached soon.

"Now we wait for your surprise." Daniel said as they walked towards the closest beach.
