Chapter 22: Rumors

I woke up in a bed that is not mine or David's. I sat up and looked around. I knew who's room I was in once I saw the picture of David painted on the wall. I was in Scotty and Kristen's room. Not long after I heard someone walk into the room. They turned the corner. It was David.

"Okay, you're up." He said in relief.

"That I am." I said hugging my knees.

He walked over and sat next to me, wrapping his arms around me. I rested my head on his shoulder.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"I guess." I said shrugging.

He grabbed my wrist lightly and slid his fingers over what appeared to be bruises.

"Was that from-" I started.

"Yeah" He said answering the question he knew I was going to ask.

"And believe me," He said looking up at me.

"It took a lot in me to not beat his ass." He said.

"Thank you for not." I said.

"Why?" He asked.

"It would've just made the situation worse." I answered.

He exhaled.

"Yeah, I guess you're right." He said rubbing my arm.

We sat there for a few minutes before a thought popped into my mind.

"Where's Todd?" I asked.

"His room. Scott and Jason have kept an eye on him for the past seven hours." David said clearly stressed about the situation.

I slid my hand onto my forehead.

"I was out for seven hours!?" I said in disbelief.

"Yeah, I was about to call the hospital, but then I noticed that you had just fallen asleep after you blacked out." He said.

I smiled at him.

"I honestly never thought someone could love me as much as you do." I told him.

He smiled and placed his hand on my cheek. I rested my hand on his. We both leaned in and began to kiss.

"And I never thought I could love anyone as much as you." He said smiling.

We kissed again, but thus was a longer kiss. A more meaningful kiss. He grabbed my hips and pulled me slightly closer. My eyes shot open. I pulled back.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

I stood up and ran to the bathroom. I keeled down by the toilet and threw up. I heard David run in. He pulled my hair back as he rubbed my back. I flushed the toilet and wiped my mouth. I leaned onto David.

"I thought it was only morning sickness." He joked.

"That's just the beginning of the surprises of pregnancy." I said smiling.

David placed his hand on my stomach.

"There's more good surprises than bad though. Right?" He asked.

"Should be." I said.

I felt him rest his chin on my head followed by kiss on the top of my head. We sat in silence for a few moments until David spoke again.

"My phone's been blowing up." He told me.

"From what?" I asked.

"Our friends. Asking me if the rumors are true." He answered.
