Chapter 24: Vernon Hills

"Babe" David whispered into my ear as he rubbed my shoulder with his thumb.

My head was pressed up against his chest, and my body was pressed against his. His body heat was keeping me warm and cozy as I slept. I slowly opened my eyes, but still saw only black. David's hat was over my eyes. David tilted the hat up. I smiled as I saw his warm, smiling face, and his glistening, chocolate-brown eyes. He brushed a piece of hair away from my cheek placing a kiss where the hair was. He kept his soft lips pressed against my cheek as he spoke.

"We're about to land." He whispered as his warm breath took over my face.

I smiled even wider. I sat up slightly. I looked around to see everyone asleep except Gabbie who was holding her phone up in a suspicious way. I rubbed my eyes.

"Are you filming us Gabbie?" I asked groggily.

"Maybe" She chuckled trying to stay quiet.

David and I both chuckled too. I felt David brush my hair off of my shoulder and kiss my neck. He nuzzled the crook of my neck, and rested his head on my shoulder. I smiled at the feeling of his warm cheek pressed against mine. I saw Zane in the corner of my eye wake up and look around.

"How far away are we?" Zane asked rubbing his eyes.

"About fifteen minutes." David replied.

"Hey Heath" Zane whispered.

Heath lifted his hat from in front of his eyes.

"What?" He groaned.

"We're almost there baby!" Zane whispered.

We all quietly laughed. Everyone slowly woke up, and just in time. I finally looked out the window, and noticed where we were. I jerked my head back and looked at David, who was holding his camera.

"Are we in Illinois!?" I asked.

He nodded his head. I looked back out at the beautiful view of Chicago. I pulled my phone out and took a picture.

"Are we here to see our parents?" I asked.

"You bet we are baby!" Heath said excitedly.

"Wait, do they know?" I asked David.

"That we're here?" He asked.

"Yeah" I said.

"Nope, no clue." He said smiling.

"We're all gonna stay for Thanksgiving too." He said.

I then remembered that Thanksgiving was literally three days away. I looked around at all of our friends' excited faces. I was extremely excited for a minute until my heart dropped to my ass.

Not only will my family be meeting my boyfriend for almost a year, they'll be meeting all of my closest friends.

"What's wrong?" David asked.

"Nothing" I said putting on a fake smile.

"Everything's amazing." I said as the fake smile turned into a real one.

"Thank you" I said leaning in and kissing David.

"All of you." I said looking around at everyone.

"For coming, and being here through everything." I said.

Everyone smiled and David kissed my cheek.

As soon as we landed, everyone got instantly pumped. Gabbie called a large Uber to take us to the car rental place. Once the Uber arrived we went straight to the car rental place and got two cars. One for me, David, Scotty, Toddy, and Jason, and one for Gabbie, Heath, Zane, and Liza. Once we got the cars we drove to Starbucks and got some coffee, and, finally, everyone told me the plan.
