Twenty one

It's been 2 years since I started searching for clues as to what happened to the island and I have gotten a fair few hints and clues, the island disappeared 3 years ago. It has been an extremely painful 3 years for everyone. The first year was by far the most painful.
For the first time in years I had to pull myself together and get out of my own sad state. Everything I did reminded me of everyone. Sleeping became next to impossible, all of my dreams turned to nightmares about losing everyone, but when I woke up to reality being just as upsettingly painful i was close to giving up.
I would constantly have nightmares about Natsu dying in my arms, or being held captive like when I was a child and seeing everyone get murdered. I had to change, I couldn't keep living in misery when I knew my friends at the guild needed me, it was hard going there everyday constantly being reminded of everyone, always remembering memories where everyone was happy together, when everything was normal. Everyone that stayed in fairy tail struggled but we all came together and struggled together, although it hurt together we all made it through. I decided to find out exactly what happened and I wouldn't stop until I knew.
I travelled all over Fiore looking for answers, supposedly the island was destroyed by a dragon names Acnologia. There has been a crazy high level of ether nano, the island has completely disappeared. I know what a dragons roar can do and I know for a fact that 'Acnologia' couldn't do this. Sure he could destroy it but this is different.
My guess is that it was a magic spell so I went to the one place I knew that would have some kind of understanding of what spell it was that make the island disappear, Warrod Sequen, a wizard saint and one of the founding members or fairy tail. If anyone knows anything about magic and what it could be it could be him.

A few days later I found him and we sorted out a time to have tea and a conversation. We talked about possibilities and spells that could be used, what could have caused it and why this could have happened.
He told me about a book of spells our first master Mavis used to study when she was first learning magic. That was about my only hope so I spent weeks and weeks straight searching for this alleged book.
I got so caught up in my research I forgot to get in contact with the guild, so on the day of my 19th birthday I went to the guild and said hello to everyone.

There was little no on one in the guild, we had lost so many members and were such a tiny guild now. There was a new guild called Twilight Orge that had taken over Fiore and had basically kicked us out of our guild hall, the new fairy tail hall was an old broken down pub on the edge of the town.

I went into the run down guild hall and was shocked at how little members there were.

"Our guild has become the laughing stock of the town. No one respects us anymore. No one is afraid of us! We don't get sent good jobs so we can't make money, everyone we have keeps leaving but we still stay strong." Macao rants to me leaning over the bar. Romeo sits in the corner with a straight face eavesdropping our conversation whole Kinana and laki clean dishes in the kitchen, nab is at the request board looking aimlessly for a job and jet and droy are eating. Wakaba smokes his pipe and nods in agreement with Macao, Reedus is sitting on a table painting next to Vijeeter who is dancing as per usual, Alzack and Bisca are in the middle of the guild hall talking. Apparently max and waren are on jobs, but we are the only ones here.
"I swear when I get my hands on those twilight pricks I'm going to kick their asses!" Macao groans in frustration.
"Where did they come from?" I ask curiously.
"No one knows. They swooped in and took us out, and then most of our remaining members left us for them." Wakaba chimes in.
I nod in understanding.
"How have we fallen so far?" I ask sadly.
Laki joins our conversation by sighing heavily.
"It all happened so suddenly" she states.
"If only we could have all gone, maybe we could have all done something together and helped" Kinana says over the bar.
"Almost all of our strongest Mage's went, I doubt there is much the rest of us could have done" droy states.
"Stop it you guys, come on now. Don't blame yourselves. There was no way of knowing this would have happened. If we could have changed it we would have. Don't beat yourselves up about it" I say positively. Everyone looks down sadly.
"Y/n's right. If our strongest wizards couldn't beat one dragon then what help would we have all been" Wakaba states.
"That's not quite what I meant" I sigh.
"I mean we should be grateful that at least we are safe here and looking after the guild for when everyone comes back" I say smiling slightly.
"It would be a whole lot better if everyone was here with us" Romeo says from across the guild and walks over.
I sigh once again and ruffle his hair, nodding in agreement.
"We just need some time to heal our wounds. We will be okay. We are fairy tail after all" Vijeeter joins in as well.
"I don't know how much longer we need to heal our wounds though. Three years is a long time and no one here is even remotely close to getting over it" Wakaba says.
"Time doesn't heal all wounds. We all know that's bullshit." I sigh and shake my head. We all hang our heads in sadness once again.

After a few hours we all decide to call it a day, i say my goodbyes to everyone and start to walk home when I hear a soft shout from behind me. I turn around and see Romeo running up to me.

"Romeo? What's up?" I ask and smile at him softly.
"Could I come with you? I want to know what's going on. I want to know where Natsu is." He says determinedly.
"Of course you can but you'd have to ask master first" I smile down at him.
He grunts in response then runs back inside. A few moments later he comes running back outside.

"He says I can go with you for one day." He says and stares at me. He has a strange expression on his face, he is determined.

"Let's go home first, we might as well go tomorrow so we can have a better chance at finding stuff" I say and we begun to walk towards my house.
He nods and follows.

Romeo dresses like Natsu, he even has his guild mark in the same spot and the same colour. He is like a mini Natsu, it's adorable.

Once we walk inside my large home, Romeo looks around a little lost. He has never been to my house before so it's understandable I suppose.

He walks up to the desk and picks up a picture of Natsu and I one Christmas. His facial expression doesn't change in the slightest bit, but he puts the photo down and moved onto the next one on the counter next to the kitchen that is a photo of Gray, Erza, Natsu and myself after I joined the guild.
He moves around my house slowly familiarising himself. I point out all the important rooms and leave him to explore while I go and shower. 

He sleeps in the spare bed that night and the next day the two of us go for an adventure to Crocus city, we explored every magic store in the city, after giving up we searched every library and book store for magic books or books on spells.

The rest of the day was spent reading about spells. Romeo even ended up learning a fire shooting spell. We went home almost empty handed but at least he got out of the guild for a day.

I continued to search day in and day out for the book. After months of searching I finally finally found the book I was searching for. I read and re read the entire thing over and over again until I could practically recite it, i was close to giving up when I remembered what levy once told me. She has given Lucy a pair of glasses once for a mission she went on with Natsu, if she hadn't used the glasses she wouldn't have found the secret.
Lightbulbs went off in my brain and I knew exactly what I had to too. I found a pair of those glasses in a magic shop not too far away and got straight back into reading.
The next thing I remembered was a blindingly bright light and then nothing.
