Chapter 3

KATHERINES POV

Once I saw the SUV approaching I knew I had a chance of getting out of there. With Bryans hand still on my chin and his lips still on mine I used my free hand to push him off me. He fell back a step and tried to come closer but the screech of the tires caught his attention. I quickly picked up my things off the ground, and headed towards the car, but not quick enough .Soon Billie had rushed over to me and Bryan. She got up in his face and began shouting.

"get the fuck away from her!" billie yelled as she gave bryan a shove.

Bryan had this stupid grin on his face but that didn't shake Billie. She was pissed. I stepped in between them and placed my hand on Billies chest to calm her and keep her away from Bryan. As pissed and hurt as I was from what he just did, he isn't worth Billie's time.

"Billie lets just go okay," I said lightly, "I want to get out of here"

she nods in agreement. We step into the car and she speeds out of there. She's furious, I can see it all over her face. We both stay quiet as we drive around, she is focussed on the road but I can tell she wants to say something. I was crying for a few minutes but managed to gather myself.

" do you want me to take you home?" billie asked

" No. I-I can't go home. Not like this" I say taking a deep breath," my mom would know something was up and I don't think I can bring myself to tell her-"

"why are you acting like it's something to be ashamed of? you obviously didn't ask him to do that and anyone could see that he was being forceful with you!"billie said strongly hitting her hands against the steering wheel

" I just can't relive it okay... I always thought Bryan was harmless, I never thought he would actually-" I broke down crying once again.

" Katy I'm sorry," billie let out a sigh "I didn't mean it like that. Do you want to crash at my place?"

"That'd be great" I said with a breaking voice

We arrived at Billies house, no one was home. Billie sat me on her bed.

"Stay here while I get you some clothes"Billie rubbed my shoulder

She was so nice even though I barely knew her. I felt so comfortable around her as if I've known her for years. I've never felt this safe around anyone before.

Billie returned with one of her giant T-shirt's and handed it to me.

BILLIES POV

"Here,this should work" I said placing my shirt on Katherine's lap

" thanks for everything" she said smiling at me

She had such a beautiful smile, every time I saw it I lit up with happiness. Everything about her was perfect; from her wavy brown hair that draped over her beautiful skin to the way she spoke.
I began to blush over my thoughts

"What are you thinking?" Kat says with a raised eyebrow

" oh-uh nothing," I said trying to hide my face, " I'll let you change now"

I get a call

Incoming call from Finneas...

I step out the room slightly pulling the door behind me.

"Hello?"
" Hey, so are you gonna tell me why you're acting weird?"Finneas said with a giggle
" I'll tell you later. Ju-just don't come home yet."I say hastily as I hang up soon after.

I turn back towards my room, hypnotized by what I saw.
Katherine was finishing changing into my shirt. I caught a small glimpse of her curves. She looked really good in my clothes.

What was I thinking?

My cheeks were on fire. I knocked on the door then entered at the sound of her voice telling me to come in.

I stood there just appreciating her but I wasn't very subtle.

"Okay what's going on" Katherine said

"What do you mean?"

" what do you mean what do I mean?" Katherine said with a giggle, " what has you blushing so much"

" I-I don't know."
That was a lie

KATHERINES POV

Billie kept looking at me, different than anyone has ever before. I liked it. I liked her

But she can't know that

We sat and talked for hours until we knew everything about each other.

I found out Billie was a singer, a really talented one at that. She had a brother with whom she was very close.

I felt even more connected to her than before ,which was soothing but also scary, cause she would never  like me back.

" I think we should go to bed now you look pretty tired" Billie said as she stood up

" where are you gonna sleep" I asked

" you can stay here, I can just crash in Finneas' room, he won't mind." Billie said as she headed towards the door, "Goodnight"

Nothing but silence as she began to shut the door...

" Wait" I said quietly, " will you stay with me?"

She opened the door and there it was again, that blush.

"Anything for you" Billie said with a grin

She climbed into bed and allowed my head to rest on her chest. She began to hum close to my ear. It was the most comfortable I've been in a long time. I felt a sense of safety and belonging in her arms.

I dozed off as Billie stroked my hair to the rhythm of her song.
