Bad at Love

Chapter 2 - Tatia

(Next day)
"Mother I'm going to play with Tatia in her home!"
I said honestly. After the beating I received from Father, I would not be disobeying him again any time soon.
"Alright dear. I assume I need not warn you about disobeying our trust again"
Mother said giving me a look. I gulped.
"No Mother. I know better now"
I said
"Good, be back by supper"
She said chopping some herbs.
"Yes mother"
I nodded and left. I ran over to Tatia's home and came in
"Tatia?"
I called and went to her room
"Oh hello Jessika, I was just about to answer you but here you are. What do you want to do today?"
She asked smiling at me
"Do you Want to spar?"
I asked smirking. Tatia looked out her door and saw her parents were nowhere in sight "You always wish to do forbidden things" she said crossing her arms and staring at me. I bit my lip
"I'm sorry it's just.. I get so excited when I use a bow and a sword"
I said looking at my feet. She giggled
"I'm only joking silly. I feel the same. I think it is silly of a woman to not know how defend one self"
She looked out her window by the front door.
"Mother must be gathering food and Father must be hunting...let's go to the behind the hut"
Tatia said as she went under her bed of hay and grabbed 2 small blades. Bigger than a knife and smaller than a sword. In current times one would call it a machete.
I smiled and we went out back.
We began to spar, clashing our blades back and forth. After about an hour, we both sat down panting.
"So I heard you got in trouble again with Niklaus yesterday....what happened?"
Tatia asked in between panting
"Well..we were in the woods painting again... we heard a noise..Niklaus made me go with him and his father had killed men who were planning to raid us all...Mikael said I shouldn't have been there because I was a woman... Father beat me till I was blue...but luckily my clothing shall hide it"
I said looking down. Tatia sat next to me and hugged me
"You know I will always be here for you my friend"
Tatia said as she held me.
"I do not know what I would do without you Tatia..you're my best friend...well, you and Niklaus"
I said smiling. She smiled then raised a brow
"What is going on between you and Niklaus anyways?"
Tatia asked to my confusion.
"What do you mean? He is also my best friend"
I said honestly. She giggled and rolled her eyes
"It is obvious he likes you"
She said smiling at me
"What?! No! He and I are just friends that's all" I said blushing
"So You do not fancy him?"
Tatia asked. I could hear the hope in her voice and for some reason it made my stomach twist and I wanted to smack her but I did not know why.
"I..I don't know.I have never thought of him in such a way"
I said looking away
"And what of Elijah? Is he not the cutest boy in the village"
Tatia said sighing dreamily. I giggled
"I suppose...they're all a rather good looking family"
I said blushing.
"Tatia?Where are you?!"
We heard Tatia's father. We gasped and jumped up, throwing the blades in the woods and running inside
"Yes father?"
Tatia called smiling innocently.
"I couldn't find you. I was worried...oh hello Jessika how are you today?"
Tatia's father asked. I smiled
"Good afternoon sir, I am doing well, thank you for asking"
I said politely.
"Father we're going to back to playing in the backyard alright?"
Tatia said smiling up at her father. He ruffled her hair smiling.
"Yes, Alright, I am going to lie down for a nap. I'm quite exhausted from the hunt today"
He said and walked off to his room.
Tatia and I waited until we had heard snoring before we ran outside and pulled out the blades  sparring again.
"How is the witch thing going?"
Tatia asked as her blade collided with mine.
"It's going great now that I have something to syphon! Esther says I am a natural and a major asset to the village"
I said swinging the sword and disarming her. She gasped in surprise, then giggled.
"Can you show me something?"
Tatia asked with hope. I bit my lip.
"Well...I'm not supposed to do magic outside of Esthers home unless it's an emergency.. but...I have been working on something new"
I said smiling as I went on my knees
"Oh!What? Show me please?"
Tatia asked excitedly. I breathed out and closed my eyes to focus

I spoke and some flowers grew in a small little patch between us.
Tatia gasped, picking a carnation and sniffing it.
"They're beautiful"
Tatia said happily. Tatia picked all the flowers and after we put the blades away, Tatia's mother came in.
"Mother!Here!"
Tatia said giving them to her. Tatia's mother smiled
"They're beautiful Tatia. Thank you"
She said and went to put them in a vase of water.
"Jessika, it's getting close to dinner time. Your mother said she would like you back by the time I get home"
Tatia's mother said.
"Alright then"
I hugged Tatia
"See you soon!"
I said smiling
"Until we meet again Jessika"
Tatia said smiling and with that I left.
