Chapter 26 - The Curse

(30 minutes later)

"We've been down here quite a while..they're gonna suspect something"

I whispered to her as I looked out the door to see if they were coming.

"Why's it taking so long?"

Elena asked looking at Elijah's unmoving body.

"Lijahhhh wake up now"

I said standing above him

"Come on Lijah, I've missed you terribly"

I said gently touching his cheek. Suddenly, he gasped loudly and his body began to move unnaturally.

"Lijah relax"

I said trying to grip his arm. Elena ran over and tried to help me, he looked at her and panted for a minute

"Katerina"

He breathed out. I frowned

"'Lijah, that's Elena, 'Lijah come back to me, listen to my voice, 'Lijah!"

I gripped his face and made him look at me. He gasped and I instantly got a vision of what he saw... us...our memories of our human lives...the first time we kissed...

"J-Jessika"

He breathed out

"Yes, yes 'Lijah it's me, it's Jessika"

I said but he grew faint again and passed out

"Oh no, what happened?"

I said but his body moved again and he stood up

"I- I can't breathe"

Elijah said trying to run out of the room but an invisible force stopped him

"I-I can't be in this house"

Elijah breathed out

"Elena he's not invited in!"

I said looking at her with worry.

"You need to get me out of here. J-Jessika..use your speed please"

Elijah said looking at me.

"Yes, of course"

I said as Elena helped him to me. I used my speed to get him out the front door as quietly as I could. Once we were out the front door, Elijah took a deep breath of air and panted. He grew a bit faint and went down on one knee.

Elena ran up to us as quietly as she could but stopped before she could get any closer to her.

He glared at her and went to charge at her but he couldn't get in

"What happened?"

He asked bitterly but she shushed him.

"I'll tell you, not here. Can I trust you?"

She whispered raising her brows. I looked at Elijah with my arms crossed. He looked down at me and we exchanged looks for a long while, but this wasn't the time to talk about everything... so he looked back at Elena with a dark glare

"Can I trust you?"

He whispered venomously. Something tells me they stabbed him in the...chest...

Elena looked back then nodded, handing Elijah the dagger. Elijah took it slowly then nodded at her. 

She quietly grabbed the keys on the hook next to the door and closed the door as quietly as she could

"I grabbed some blood bags on the way out"
