Summer's POV

I woke up on my hard bed to the sound of clanking metal and people shouting. I groaned as I sat up, my sore muscles throbbing. An agent was placed my breakfast in my cell and quickly got out, locking the door. I crawled over to the floor to pick up my water, bread, and scrambled egg. I started to eat, trying to be a quiet as I could.

After I was done eating, I sat back on my bed and awaited for someone to drag me to the training room. Eventually, a man came in shouting at me in Russian, say to get up. I did as told and slowly walked out of my cell, the man grabbing my arm harshly, pushing me on my way.

He led me to the medical room. I scanned the area, seeing every doctor in the room, and someone else. The Winter Soldier.

Him and I always had a relationship. We would look out after each other on missions. We never spoke to each other, only made eye contact. Awkward glances. His cell was right next to mine. I have always wanted to talk to him, but I knew I couldn't. I would get in trouble. I don't know Winter's real name. They only call him Soldier or something like that.

The agent pushed me and commanded me to get on the examination table. I did and hung my head low. I head light clanking and looked up to see doctors hitting Winter's metal arm with their pens. I listened in on their conversation. They were talking about chopping off my left arm. So I could be as good as Winter. My eyes widen and I quickly duck my head to hide my fear. Were they? I listened intently.

Yes. They were. Two agents shoved me to lay down on the hard table. I started getting scared. I didn't want an arm like him. I didn't want to be the same like him. I resisted their force. This only made them yell at me to lay down. "Net! Net!" I cried, still resisting. (No! No!)

In the corner of my eye, I could see Winter stand on alert, watching the scene in front of him. He shoved the doctors out of the way to get to me. We were trained to help out one another if we were in danger and couldn't get out ourselves. Winter grabbed my hand and pulled me off the table, helping me stand up. In his eyes, I could tell he knew what they were going to do to me. I saw sympathy and worry. "Zimniy soldat! Vstan'!" We heard agent yell. Winter immediately let go of me. The same two agents picked me up and put me on the table again, strapping me down this time. I wriggled with all my might. Nothing. A doctor injected something in my neck, making darkness consume within seconds. (Winter Soldier! Stand Down!)

Winter Soldier's POV

I watched as The Summer Soldier fell under. I felt a sharp pain in my chest. This was a new feeling. What was it? Before I knew it, two soldiers forced me to my knees and handcuffed me, escorting me back to my dreaded cell.

The Summer Soldier's POV

I woke up with pain in my left arm. I opened my eyes to a bright light. I squint so I could see. "S vozvrashcheniyem, Letniy Soldat." An agent greeted me. He helped me sit up. "Vy poluchili obnovleniye." He said with a smile. I looked at my left arm. (1. Welcome Back, Summer Soldier. 2. You have gotten an upgrade.)

It wasn't there. Replaced by high tech metal. I tried it out. Concentrating on moving the fingers. They moved the exact way I wanted them to. It was as if my flesh arm was here. That's when I noticed the medical wrap around my shoulder. It was supposed to be white, instead it was red. Stained by my own blood from the surgery. The agent gestured for me to come near him. I hopped off the table and stood in front of him.

That's when a doctor come in, inspecting my new arm. I stood frozen. "yey khorosho idti." The Doctor announced, patting my shoulder. I looked at where he patted me, before returning my gaze to in front of me. With that, the agent escorted me to my cell. (She is good to go)

"Missed you." I heard Winter whisper through the bars. I looked at him. Was he talking to me? I looked around to see no agents in sight. I crawled against the bars, next to him.

"How long?" I ask, keeping quiet just in case agents hear us.

"Days." He answered. That's when he finally noticed my arm. He studied it. "Same." He commented. I nod and lick my dry lips.

"Better." I replied, looking at the floor. Does that mean I wasn't good enough in the first place?

"Why?"

"Missions." I answer, avoiding his gaze. I felt him rest his head gently against mine. I felt calmer with his physical contact. All of a sudden an agents came in, ordering us to stand. We were going to train to test out my new arm. I just know it.

They escorted both of us to the training cage. Agents were crowded in the room. Waiting for us to battle. Called it. "Net! Yeye nuki dolzhny zazhit'!" The same doctor from last time bursted through the room. I sighed of relief, knowing I didn't have to fight Winter today. All the agents grumble. (No! Her arm needs to heal!)

We were both escorted back to our cell. I sat on my bed and messed with my arm. Moving it in order to hear the whirring sounds. Winter watched me. I didn't care. I was just like him now. Did Winter like that? Or, did he wanted to be the only one of his kind? "Just like you." I thought out loud. Winter nodded.
