Coven's POV
"You're grounded!" Steve yelled at her. Stephanie's jaw drops.
"What?" She asks, even though she heard her father well, she was shocked.
"You heard me. Go to your room." Steve demanded in a threatening voice. I could see Steph's eye gloss over. She glanced at me before running, literally running, to her room in the Avengers tower. Oh hell no. Steve is sleeping on the couch tonight. Steve sighs then growls, frustrated by his daughter. He pinches the bridge of his nose. I lean against the counter and bow my head, making my black hair cover my clenched jaw. "What am I going to do with her?" Steve mumbles. I glare at him.
"Did you have to yell at her?" I snap, lifting my head up. Steve turns to face me with an annoyed captain america face. Yes, we all know that look, including you.
"Did I what I had to do in order for her to realize what she did was wrong." Steve argued, pointing to the hall where Stephanie ran down.
"I let her, Steve! She was ready!" I defended, poking my own chest. Steve furrowed his eyebrows.
"You let her on that mission with us!? Even after I told you no!? Do you even care about her!?" Steve yelled. Steve never raised his voice at me. He never raised his voice at any woman. I stood there frozen in shock as he went on. "Ya know, I remember back in my day, woman held their tongues and actually listened to the man of the house." He commented. I gasped. He crossed the line.
"You know what? You want it back like the old days? You're sleeping with the dog." I say, walking away. Man if only I had a mic to drop.
Sam's POV
I saw the whole thing go down. Good luck trying to dig yourself out of this one, Cap.
Coven's POV
I took a deep breath and composed myself before opening Steph's door. It reveals Bucky sitting next to her on her bed while he bandages her arm again.
Yeah, that's what happened. I secretly brought her on a mission without Steve's knowledge. But everyone else knew. I mean, Step was already 14 and has been training most of her life. It was when she was taking on a single HYDRA agent on her own, an amateur sniper got her. The bullet grazed her arm. She had yelped in pain and Steve heard it. He saved her. Steve was silent the whole ride home. I didn;t know he was going to blow up liek that.
Steph had tears rolling down her face silently. I knew she wasn't crying because of the pain. Bucky saw me. "Hey. She asked me to replace it for her." He explained, gesturing to her arm. I nodded and muttered a quiet 'thank you'. Bucky stood up and walked close to me.
"Mind filling me in on what happened?" Bucky asked. Bucky was on a different part of the mission, so he didn't see what went down. We stepped out into the hallway where Stephanie couldn't hear us.
After explaining everything to him, he sighed and shook his head. I even told him about the fight Steve and I had. "I apologize for him. You know every girl he ever had was risking her life. He dreams of going back to the 40s with a regular woman. I mean-I'm not saying that he's not happy with you, what I'm trying to say is that he just wants to protect you two. Oddly, this is way of doing since he's never had any experience with a wife or daughter. Honestly, what I think you did was right. Steve needs a little slap in the face right now. And I don't mean a physical one." Bucky jokes. I smile at his attempt of cheering me up.
"Thank you Bucky, for understanding. I should check on Steph." I suggest. Bucky nods and walks away.
I walk into her room. She was still sitting on her bed. But this time, she was sniffling. I rush to sit next to her and wrap my arms around her. "I'm sorry, mom." She cried. I rub her arm.
