You ran after him and somehow he didn't hear you come up behind him.
You grabbed his hand to stop him from walking. "I'm sorry I didn't answer." You stopped to gather yourself. "I'm sorry for never speaking. I'm sorry for watching you. I'm sorry for listening but acting like I wasn't. I'm sorry for never being your friend. I'm sorry for not returning the kindness you showed me. I'm sorry for not having the courage in the first place. It's just that everyday during all our classes I watch you. I memorized the scars on your hands, even though I never touched them. I memorized the color of your eyes, even though I never let them meet mine. I memorized the sound of your voice from a distance and I remember all the questions you asked me when I never answered. Because I wasn't brave. I will be brave now. Brave enough to say that I like you. I've liked you for so so long. I like the way your eyebrows furrow when you're reading. I like the way you throw your head back when you laugh. I like the way you always know what to say. I like how you respect my space. I like everything about you. I've watched you and fallen in love with you everyday since 2nd year. I bloody love you damn it."
Your hand fell to your side when he didn't say anything. "But you're too good for me and I always knew it, so I didn't speak, when I knew you'd never love my voice the way I love yours. I didn't look in your eyes, when I knew you'd never fall for mine. I never said anything, because I knew- I know it's just a waste of breath. It's nobody, saying something that means nothing to everybody that means everything to her."
"So I'm sorry." You said. "For wasting your time."
Then you walked away, slowly at first, but soon breaking into a run.

For the third time this week you laid in your bed, the curtains drawn around you all cried out with your face in the pillow. Wondering if anyone noticed your absence.
"Y/n, you've got a visitor." Lily's voice.
"No." You said.
"I think you'll like this one."
"No I won't." You answered.
You heard the door closed and thought they both left. But someone opened the curtains. It was...
Severus. He rubbed your back and you sat up. "I know." He said and you sat up against him, finally the emptiness inside turned into sadness. "I know." He whispered again, wrapping his arms around you. Severus wasn't used to hugging people, but for you he tried. You were unsure how long you stayed like that, he squeezed you gently every once in a while. But you were there long enough to fall asleep in his arms, and he fell asleep on your bed.

When you woke up, Severus was stroking your hair absent minded. He smiled sadly down at you when he saw you were up. "Let's go to breakfast Y/n." He said.
You nodded, for the first time in 3 days actually feeling like eating. He led you into the hall and went to sit at the Slytherin table, giving your arm a squeeze before leaving. The two of you just caught the late breakfast. It was a small crowd, Lily was already at her classes most likely, so you sat at the very end of the table and filled up your plate.
Someone sat beside you and you didn't look at them. But when they reached for a roll, you noticed his scarred hand. "Hey Y/n. I haven't seen you around." He said quietly to you.
"I haven't been around." You said. Your response surprised him.
"Listen I-"
"I have to go." You said, your heart was squeezing just hearing his voice.
"But Y/n-"
"Bye Remus." You said, taking your plate with you to eat in the library.
After about 10 minutes, you'd wolfed down your food and were headed out. Taking your plate with you to the kitchen to return it to the house elves.
On your way out you ran into Remus again. "Y/n, can you-"
"Can't I have to go give this to the house elves."
"I'll come with you." He offered.
"I'm good." You answered, hurrying off again.
Later during charms, Lily was absent and Remus sat beside you, there were no other seats, so you couldn't move.
"Y/n I need to talk to you." He whispered to you as the teacher began explaining to you about elemental charms.
"Remus can't you tell I don't want to talk right now?" You whispered back, shocked at your own bluntness.
He waited until the end of class to talk to you again.
"Please Y/n, meet me at the library just before curfew." He said, not waiting for your answer.

You found yourself walking down to the library, because deny as you might, you still had feelings for Remus. When you got there, he was already there. "Hi Y/n. Thank you for coming."
"What did you want to talk to me about?"
"About what you said...3 days ago." You nodded, knowing he was talking about your confession.
"I-i didn't know you felt that way."
"I know."
"I didn't know you watched me."
"I know."
"I didn't even know you before now. I'd seen you with Snape and Evans and wondered about you but I didn't even..." He trailed off his voice breaking.
You nodded.
Suddenly he pulled you into a hug, "Dammit Y/n I don't know what to say. I'm sorry I didn't know. I'm sorry for keeping you waiting. I'm sorry for being disappointed when you didn't talk. Y/n I'm so so sorry."
"Don't be." You said hugging him back.
"Kiss her!" Sirius yelled from behind a bookshelf.
"Sirius you ruined it!" Lily scolded.
"I'll kiss you Evans." James.
"Ew. Don't even try with me."
Remus kissed you softly on the forehead.
"Good enough." Peter said.
Severus stood back. You walked over to him. "At least one of us got a happy ending." You hugged him tightly and he hugged you back.
"You're my best friend." You whispered in his ear before walking back and joining hands with Remus.
