olivia's point of view

"Well no, love, forget about the ocean and the sand, the part of my view I was talking about getting used to was the one sitting directly in front of me."

I stared at the drummer-god before me. Did he really just say that to me? I now have my suspicions...

I decided to play along, as two could play this little 'game' of sorts.

"Well I wouldn't mind getting used to the view in front of me." I said, smirking. He sheepishly grinned and put his head down, slightly embarrassed he couldn't take all the credit for that spectacular pick up line.

"Ice Cream?" He asked, pleading behind his voice. I'll let him have it, I thought.

"Whatever you say, Roger Meddows."

Ten minutes later and we were sitting on the sand, about fifty metres from the water, enjoying our ice cream with light conversation.

"What has been the best moment of your twenties life?"

"What?"

"I mean, like, the best moment you've had while being twenty or older, so like from when you've been twenty to now." He says in reply to my confusion.

"Um, probably when I turned twenty one, like, I celebrated with all my friends from high school and it felt like a big reunion, more than anything. I liked it because all the attention wasn't focused on me."

"Well first of all, that's really lovely, that you got to reunite with most of your friends from high school. But why don't you like having the attention, even just sometimes?"

I looked out to the ocean, looking at the waves at breaking point, crashing and toppling over each other.

"It's not my type of scene, like I enjoy watching people have it, but I don't like it on myself. I used to get all the attention when I was younger and that was like my oxygen, I lived on it. Then it started turning negative more than positive and then I met my three best friends from school that I'm still best friends with now. They were just like me in some way." I said, while taking the last scoop of ice cream from my cup.

"Okay, I understand. But when you look at me, and the boys and see we have attention of some sort, like when we're performing, do you think of us in a negative way?"

"No! Of course not Rog! When I look at you guys, I watch in awe. Even when you're not performing, when I'm just with one of you or with all four of you, it's like the rest of the world slips away, all because we enjoy each other's presence, and don't take each other for granted. We're a family, but no two of us are the same, which kind of makes it positive."

"Hmm, I see what you mean. That's really lovely, y'know. That you describe us in that way. That's exactly how I would describe it if I had better knowledge." He said, with a chuckle.

I hit him on the arm, almost causing him to drop the second half of his ice cream cone.

"Hey! You watch yourself, missy!"

I started laughing, as did he, and I realised how much I enjoy his company. I forgot about everything that had happened in the past week and a half, and for one of the first times, I just focused on the present and being positive.
