.5 YEARS LATER
"Good morning, my loves."
"Daddy! You're home!" A 7 year old Tia exclaims loudly, gaining the interest of a 5 year old Isla before running from the small living room that the Taylor children had made their own, and into the arms of their father.
"Yes I am, aren't I?" Roger says quietly as he picks up both of his daughters, chuckling when Tia pulls back from the hug and pecks his nose, learning from her mother.
"Missed you, daddy." Tia mumbled into his shoulder where her head lay, Isla joining the conversation with her limited vocabulary. "Hi da-daddy."
"Missed you both so much my little munchkins, where's Byron?"
He puts his two daughters down and follows them to the door of what they used to call their nursery, pushing the already slightly ajar door open to reveal his son, his third child, Bryon, squirming around, trying to roll from his back and onto his tummy in his cot, not quite making it.
Walking up to his 5 month old son, he whisks him up into is arms and the little one jolts and squeals lightly before somehow realising its his dad as Roger cradles him against his chest, humming to him before turning to his girls.
"Mummy doesn't know I'm here, but, I've got your presents for you to give to her. Did Aunty Claire help you make your cards?"
Tia nods before asking "Can I go get our cards, Daddy?", already walking towards her room as he walks behind her to the hallway.
"Of course, love. Off you go, meet us up there." He says, taking hold of Isla's hand with Byron against his chest and walks toward the upstairs living room for his children.
After a long tour for Hot Space, Roger was home a day early to celebrate his wife, the mother of his children. It was her birthday today, and all throughout the three month tour he had been searching for just the right gift to give her in addition to the original gift he had planned since before the birth of his son in January of that year.
It took a lot of convincing, but he finally got management to let him and the boys come home on the day that was being used to pack up and prepare before going home the next day, which would be on the cusp of the last hours of Olivia's birthday and the day after if he calculated correctly when converting the hours from Florida time to England time, and he simply couldn't have that.
So here he was on the morning of his wife's birthday.
Beyond happy to finally be home, seeing his daughters - who were getting bigger every single time he blinked, and not to mention his son who was born only 5 months ago.
Roger and Olivia could both agree that it was one of the hardest things for him to go through as a person, having to leave not only his daughter's and his wife, but his son who was freshly born, just under two months old when he left for the start of the tour.
But he was back, and reunited with the happiest aspect of his life, his family.
Well, he wasn't reunited with the love of his life yet, but that was all about to change, he with his two daughter's and son, walking through the door that led to the couple's bedroom.
