Red's POV
Another cheerful day was around the corner. How did I know that ? I didn't know, I felt it. It was a perfect day for a perfect gym battle. And I was ready for it.
I felt bad, leaving the rest of my Pokemon in Professor Oak's Lab back in Kanto. I wished we could carry more than just six Pokemon in our team, wouldn't it be great.
Leaving my thoughts aside, I had my mind set to win the Cherrygrove Gym Battle and nothing could stop me. At least, not now.
I sat on the lower bunk, ready, waiting for Lyra. I hugged my old yellow bag as she took more time than I expected in her bathe. Then, I started tapping my feet on the floor in my impatience.
I couldn't wait anymore, I had a gym to win.
'Do you wanna battle, kid ?', shouted a boyish voice, the sound came through the open window.
I suddenly had a smile, at last I was battling someone. I quickly put my bag away and briskly walked to the window.
But, no luck. The boy clearly wasn't talking to me. I saw a boy, maybe a year or two younger than me. He wore emerald green shorts and a t-shirt of the same color. And held a bug catcher net.
He stood in front of a girl of the same age, who wore an oversized pink shirt with white collar, and a blue skirt. She also wore a pair of round 'Harry Potter' glasses.
'Who you calling a kid ?', asked the girl, offended but still polite in a way.
'You. So, do you wanna battle or walk away like other stupid people who are afraid of battling ?', asked the boy, rudely.
I was on the girl's side for some reason, and according to their behaviour too. And moreover, the boy's was clearly a bug catcher, the girl could easily defeat him.
'I am battling you, but you have to apologise for your bad attitude', said the girl.
'Okay, I'll apologise if you win', said the boy. 'Which isn't happening'.
'Oh, it is happening. Phanpy, show him what you've got', said the girl, sending out a light blue colored Pokemon with a trunk. The Pokemon was as small as a Sandshrew or maybe a basketball.
'Go Pinsir', said the boy, sending out a Pokemon with two horns on it's head. The Pokemon was tall enough to reach the kid's height.
I pointed my Pokedex towards the Phanpy.
'Phanpy, a Long Nose Pokemon. As a sign of affection, it bumps with its snout. However, it is so strong, it may send you flying', explained my Pokedex.
Then I pointed towards the other Pokemon.
'Pinsir, a Stagbeetle Pokemon. Its two long pincer horns are powerful. Once they grip an enemy, they won’t release until the foe is torn', explained my Pokedex.
'Ahem, you have an advantage', said the boy. 'But I will win anyhow'.
'Phanpy, use Rollout', said the girl. The Phanpy rolled and hit Pinsir at top speed.
Pinsir stood still as if nothing happened to him. But to me it looked like Phanpy did it's best job. The boy laughed.
'You can't beat me, no one can beat me', said the boy, with a smirk. 'Pinsir, end it with a Vice Grip'.
Pinsir attacked the poor Phanpy with it's two horns and Phanpy fainted.
'Phanpy !', cried the girl.
'I told ya, so I'm not apologising after all', said the boy, walking away.
'You have to !', I shouted, jumping out of the window, without realizing I was on the first floor. It hurt when my feet hit the ground.
