ALAINA'S POV

A cold breeze washing over me causes my eyes to slowly open, but the bright light shining in my eyes causes me to close them again. I groan softly as I lean up on my elbows, and a second passes before the ache in my head comes back. I fall back against the pillow and wince softly.

"Laina?"

The fear in the voice forces me to pry my eyes open and the light blurs my vision again. I wince at the pain in my head and close continue trying to lean up.

"No, Alaina, stop. Calm down, you're okay. Take it easy." I recognize the voice as Noah and I instantly feel much calmer. A hand is placed on my cheek and another on my shoulder, and the one on my shoulder pushes me back gently until I am resting against something soft.

I finally regain my vision and I look up into a pair of blue eyes. Noah gives me a small smile, but it doesn't reach his eyes, and he slides his fingers into my hair.

"What happened?" I mumble as I rub at my eyes. "Where am I?" I ask as I force my blurred eyes away from Noah and down to my lap.

A thin white blanket covers me and I'm laying in a reclined bed. My eyes lift from the bed to the white room; the tv hung up on the wall, the two doors in the corner, one of them seeming to be a bathroom, and a bunch of hospital supplies.

My eyes widen and I feel my heart beating rapidly in my chest. I turn back to Noah and let out a shaky breath. Now noticing that I'm freaking out, he sits down on the side of my bed and cups my cheeks.

"Calm down, calm down!" He whispers to me as his thumbs rub over my cheeks gently.

"Noah, what happened?" My words rush together as I try to catch my breath.

"Breathe," he demands and stares deep into my eyes. I do as he says, but my mind continues to run wild. The last thing I remember is arguing with Eliza.

And Gabby mentioning something about her and Ax having sex.

But that's besides the point.

"What happened?" I whisper, my brows drawing together to show my struggle.

He gives me a fearful look, his eyes softening and his lip resting between his teeth. "You got hurt," he states and I feel myself slipping deeper into the pit of confusion. "You hit your head on the coffee table in Liam's living room."

I subconsciously move to touch my head in order to find the spot I hit, but Noah instantly grabs my hand and lowers it. "You have gash and they stitched it up. You can't touch it," he tells me softly, his eyes darting down to my hands.

"How did this happen?" I ask him, shifting slightly so that I can be closer to him. Somehow he's the only thing that makes me feel better.

"You..." He mumbles, obviously in deep thought. "You lost control."

Lost control?

What the hell does that mean?

"What-"

"We were at Liam's and Eliza came to take you home. You guys were arguing and you were upset..." His eyes slowly move up to meet mine and I feel a shiver run down my spine when I see that his are dark blue. "She grabbed you...your wrist...and you just..." He lets out a heavy breath before lacing his fingers with mine.

"You just exploded."

My eyes widen at his words and I take a moment to process them. "Exploded?" I repeat him and he nods. I look down at myself for a second before my eyes meet his again. "I'm still in one piece," I inform him.
