ALAINA'S POV
"I don't like him." Gabby states abruptly and I look over at her with furrowed brows.
"You don't even know him."
"I don't care." She mumbles lowly when the boy in front of her looks back at her only to shush her. She rolls her eyes before glancing over at me. "He gave off a bad vibe."
"He's new! How could he possibly give off a bad vibe?"
She shrugs slowly as we both look ahead at the video Mrs. Callar is playing. The room is dark, the only light coming from the partially opened windows next to me. Gabby looks over at me again with an annoyed expression.
"What were you two talking about?" She asks.
"I told you four times," I groan softly. "He told me he was new and I asked him what classes he had and you showed up and went all psycho."
"I didn't go psycho." She mumbles as she flicks her glittery pen around her fingers. "I just... Okay, yeah maybe I did go a bit psycho. But, he was getting off this weird aura type thing. I don't know, but I don't like him."
"Don't judge people before you get to know them," I throw the disposable eraser off of my pencil at her arm.
"Hey! I'm psychic, remember?" She points out as she covers her arm. "I'm always right!"
"That is incorrect."
"Ms. Coles, Ms. Tycho!" Mrs. Callar calls from the front of the class and both of our heads snap towards her. She had paused the video and everyone is staring back at us. "Would you like to tell the class what you find so necessary to share?" She asks and you can nearly forget how nice she was to me on my first day!
Gabby looks over at me with a raised brow before flicking a strand of hair over her shoulder and smiling smugly. "That I'm always right because I'm psychic." She states loud enough for everyone to hear.
Mrs. Callar's eyes narrow at Gabby and her head tilts to the side. "Can you see you and your friend sitting in detention after school today?" She asks and Gabby's eyes slightly widen. "Because I can."
"What?" I gasp. "What did I do?!"
"You, Ms. Tycho, are an accomplice. Quit talking during the video and pay attention." She demands before unpausing the film.
My head snaps over to Gabby and I find her eyes already on me. She gives me a shy smile as I just shake my head with squinted eyes. "Great job, Ms. Coles," I mutter and her smile widens as she sinks into her seat.
"Why, thank you, Mrs. Mills."
"Wait-what?!"
.
After class ends, Gabby and I head for the girls' locker room to get changed for gym. On our way there, she apologizes multiple times for getting me detention and I pretend to be mad, even though I actually am.
"Oh, come on! I'll buy you lunch." She begs as we walk into the locker room.
"Nope," I shake my head as I move over to my locker and begin messing with my lock. She groans loudly and I tilt my head down to hide my smile.
"Alaina, come on! You know I didn't mean to get you detention."
"It still happened didn't it?" I look over at her with a raised brow as I open my locker and take out my gym shirt. She growls at me, like an actual growl that sends shivers down my spine as she glares at me. "Get dressed," I tell her and she tilts her head to the side.
