NOAH'S POV
"What the hell did you do?" Ax whispers nervously as we stand my locker and watch Alaina all the way down at her locker. That Moose guy is standing in front of her with an ice pack pressed against his jaw, where I had punched him. There's a split in his bottom lip that Alaina is currently inspecting.
"I punched him," I grumble as I turn to look at my locker, the lovely couple making my stomach churn.
"Why? And... when? Why wasn't I there?!" He asks, looking over at me before back at them.
"It was during gym and he was in my way."
"So you just punched him?" His brows raise as he does a little jump while turning to me. "In front of everyone? That's kind of messed up, dude."
"Well... it wasn't just him getting in my way, I guess," I state as I look back over at Alaina to see her smiling up at him. It's not one of her happy smiles she normally wears, it's one of her apologetic ones. Like the one she gave me when she apologized for asking me about my grandmother's house.
"Then why did you punch him?" Ax furrows his brows at me as he scratches his cheek.
As if she could feel me staring at her, Alaina's eyes flicker over to me and the smile she was wearing disappears. I sigh softly and turn away from her again once she looks back at Moose and I begin grumbling a bunch of cuss words.
"You know, Noah, there is no possible way that Alaina will end up liking him more than she likes you." Ax tells me with a small smile.
"She picked him to be on her team in gym instead of me," I state angrily as I pull my jacket out of my locker. When I look back at Ax, I find his eyes on the pair and the devilish look in them.
"So, you punched him because she chose him over you?" He asks softly as we both stare at them.
"Yup."
His brows furrow for a moment before he looks back at me and sighs. "Well, Noah, this is Alaina. Sweet, kind Alaina with the adorable smile." He reminds me and I can't help but feel a warm feeling in my chest at his words. "She's a really nice person, so maybe she was just being nice to him. I mean, it is his first day."
"Yeah, but she should be nice to me too," I mumble as I close my locker. "I know her more than him anyway. I know her better than anyone, so I should be treated differently."
Ax's brows raise at my words, "Dude, she has you whipped."
"Shut up," I demand and he chuckles.
"Well, the Halloween fair is coming up in two weeks, yeah?" He raises a brow at me and I look over at him. I shrug slowly and a wicked grin appears on his face. "Ask Alaina to go with you."
"She's already going with Gabby," I remind him.
"Okay, well we can make it a group thing, but if you ask her, she might think that it's a date." He smiles widely at his plan. "And then you can take her into one of the haunted houses and kiss her when she least expects it!"
"What if she doesn't want to go on a date with me? What if she doesn't want me to kiss her?" I ask, suddenly getting more nervous than I have ever been in my life. "She's angry with me, Ax! She hates me."
"She doesn't hate you." He rolls his eyes after muttering something about me being dramatic. "You fucked up. Just like I did on her first day. All you gotta do is apologize to her and she'll forgive you. Alaina is a forgiving person." He states as he pats my shoulder.
I look back towards her locker and I feel my heartbeat speed up when I see that it's just her now. Moose is gone and she's alone.
"Noah?" Ax hums and I look over at him. "I just have this one question I gotta ask you."
