GABBY'S POV
I huff out a breath as I take down another set of hangers from the top of my closet and toss them down onto the floor. Irritation is still flooding my brain and not even the brand new wardrobe I just spent all of my birthday money on isn't going to make me any happier.
At the sound of keys jangling downstairs, I glance over at my opened bedroom door and I know that if my mother comes in to find fourteen shopping bags sitting on my bed, she'll send me to a mental facility, and she'll end up being my personal therapist.
I quickly get up and close my door before returning to my bed and sorting out all the shirts and jeans I bought.
A couple of minutes pass before the doorbell rings and I hear the sound of the front door opening. My ears perk up as I'm folding a pair of pants and I listen to my mother's voice, and she says my name.
"Gabby!" She shouts and a small groan falls from my lips.
I remain silent and continue putting all of my new clothes in my closet. Another couple of minutes pass and there's a knock at my door. My hands freeze on the hanger I have hooked to the metal rod and I slowly turn to look at my door.
The door knob turns and the door is pushed open gently, and a familiar scent fills my room.
My eyes narrow and I feel my cheeks flush, "What the hell are you doing here?" I spit as Ax stands out in the hallway with his hands pressed against each side of the doorway.
"Liam called me," he states softly.
I roll my eyes automatically as a small chuckle leaves me lips. "Oh, you need my help, don't you?" I raise a brow at him as I hang up the rest of the clothes.
He doesn't say anything, he only continues staring at me with this look in his eyes.
"Fuck you," I shake my head at him. "Get the fuck out, Ax," I demand and turn away from him towards my bed, gathering up all the bags and folding them up.
"Noah's missing."
I freeze up again, and this time it takes me longer to understand what's happening. "What?" My voice cracks as I slowly look back at him over my shoulder. "What do you mean he's missing?"
"He didn't come to school today because he's..." He trails off and my brow raises slightly. "Because he's sick. Like...there's something wrong with him. And..." His face pales and I turn to him fully, showing my interest.
"And what? What do you mean he's sick? He's a werewolf, Ax, he can get sick," I roll my eyes. If he came over just to tell me lies, I'm going to shove my fist down his throat and rip his heart out.
"Ever since Friday..." He begins slowly and I cross my arms over my chest. "He's been different. You were right when you said that his nightmares would come back, he's been getting them every night. But it's more than just nightmares. He woke up in the woods the other day, Gabb's." He states and confusion covers my face. "Covered in bruises and cuts. And this was days ago, and they still haven't healed. He's sick."
"He hasn't healed?"
He shakes his head, "And that's not all."
"What else is there?" I snap at him.
He stares at me in silent, observing my face with narrowed eyes. "I think Alaina's sick too," he confesses and my face drops. "I think...I think they're both dying."
I'm stunned by his words and I can't even force myself to speak. I stare at him as my body trembles and I abruptly shake my head. "That's not funny, Ax."
