Chapter 26: (Y/N) and Cornelius

"What were you thinking Cornelius?! You know you're not allowed outside without someone with you! You couldn't gotten hurt and (Y/N) did!" Caesar was giving his son a lecture for leaving the caves while (Y/N) got her wound cleaned up by Cornelia and two other nurse apes. 

"I know. I'm sorry." Cornelius signed shyly. He sat in front of his father with his head down, occasionally bringing it up to watch Caesar sign. 

"Don't be so harsh Caesar." (Y/N) said from her seated position. "I've already given him a warning. We're back, we're fine, everything's okay." 

"No, you're not fine. You got shot!" 

"Oh, I've had worse." She scoffed with a slight smile. She said thank you to Cornelia and the nurses as the nurses left and Cornelia sat next to her, listening/watching to the conversation. 

Caesar kneeled down to his son. "I've said this to your brother as well. I am your father, you must listen to me, okay? You will soon be old enough to go where you want. But until then, you must be with someone at all times, understand?" Cornelius nodded. Caesar brought his son close to him and gave him a hug. "I just want to protect you, son." He said as Cornelius buried his face into his father's shoulder. 

Once they parted, Cornelius walked over to (Y/N) and signed, "I'm sorry." (Y/N) also gave Cornelius a quick hug. 

"It's okay. I'm just glad you're not hurt. How about you go play with the others." She suggested as she looked to Caesar for approval. Caesar nodded and Cornelius gave a smile as he ran off to go play with friends. "I'm going down to the water." (Y/N) signed then waved to the royal couple.

 She flew down to a part near the water where no one could see her. She slowly took the bandages off from around her chest and placed into the water, washing off the blood stains. She kept her wings around her body for protection and privacy. This was (Y/N)'s favourite spot. Of course, she had her rock ledge, the trees with the birds and (B/N) but when she wanted to be alone, this is where she went. After a while, once the wrappings were dry, (Y/N) put them back on around her chest and her wound. 

She carefully flew back to the caves, and after a while, it was dark. (Y/N) was sitting on the edge of the royal family's room, watching the waterfall fall down pass her feet. Then she heard a quiet noise behind her. She turned around and found Cornelius standing there nervously. She knew exactly why. 

"Come here." She signed in a friendly manner. Cornelius walked over to her lap happily and sat down. (Y/N) held out her hand to catch a tiny bit of water. She brought it back to the baby ape and flicked her fingers so water would gently hit Cornelius' face. They both giggled as (Y/N) stood up and threw him in the air then caught him again. She let Cornelius climb onto her back then looked at him. 

"Sleep with you?" He signed/asked. (Y/N) smiled as she flew up to her ledge and laid down on her side with her wing covering Cornelius as he snuggled into her. 

Once Cornelius was asleep, Caesar came into the room and looked up to (Y/N). "Don't worry, I got him." She signed, trying not to wake Cornelius. Caesar chuckled lightly as he went to go sleep next to his wife and his other son. 

Five and a half Months Later

All the apes were gathered at the entrance of their home. Blue Eyes and Rocket were at the front, about to leave. They were going on a journey to find a proper, permanent home for the apes. They stood next to their horses, saying goodbye to everyone. 

"Stay safe son. You too Rocket." Caesar signed. 

"Don't worry Caesar. I'll protect your son." Rocket signed while giving Blue Eyes a nuggie. Blue Eyes laughed and pushed him off. Caesar chuckled and gave them both a tight hug. Blue Eyes gave his mum, brother and Lake a hug then headed over to his 'aunt'. 

"I think you might need to protect Rocket. You know...with that small brain of his." (Y/N) signed secretly as she winked, making Blue Eyes laugh. 

"I'll miss you." He signed. (Y/N) smiled. 

"I'll miss you too." They hugged before Blue Eyes went over to Rocket and got onto their horses then made their way into the forest and their journey began.
