Chapter 45: Tough Night

(Y/N) had cleaned up the bite mark the wolf had given her and had wrapped it up with the old wrappings that she still kept. It was night time, a massive fire glowed in the middle of where the apes sat, eating fruit and the wolf and deer meat. All the animal skins were brought together for clothes for (Y/N) and Nova, and blankets for everyone to use. (Y/N) sat next to Nova, talking to her about what had happened that day. 

"Wasn't able to keep up with the apes again?" (Y/N) asked Nova. Nova looked down embarrassed while nodding. 

"They're just too fast. Why can't I climb like them? Or have wings like you?" Nova asked in an annoyed tone. 

(Y/N) looked away for a second and said, "you don't want to have what I have." Nova looked at her questioningly. 

"Why not?" 

(Y/N) looked at her and gave a sad smile. "Well, I was born in a place where people did bad things. I was born with these wings, but I've never met my mother... ever. I lived with Caesar and two humans until I was kidnapped at six years old and I escaped at eighteen, so only three years ago." (Y/N) signed then smiled. "You're the only 'normal' one here. Own it." She said. Nova smiled at her and nodded her head. 

"Go play with Bad Ape, I think he's lonely." (Y/N) said before looking over to where Bad Ape was sitting. Nova got up and walked over to him and as soon as they sat down they were talking non-stop. (Y/N) smiled at them. Then she felt a presence next to her. "Hey Maurice." She said. Maurice smiled at the woman. 

"You okay?" He asked. (Y/N) sighed and nodded. 

"Yeah, I'm good." Maurice sat closer to her. 

"Thinking about Caesar?" He asked. (Y/N) gave another deep sigh. 

"Yeah." She said. "I miss him so much, Maurice... I was apart from him for twelve years...and I lose him two years after I find him again?" Maurice wrapped his arm around her and (Y/N) wrapped her wings around him. "We... all... miss him." Maurice said. (Y/N) began to tense up as she tried to hide the tears that threatened to fall. Maurice hugged her tighter. 

(Y/N) slowly got up before she said, "I'm going to bed. I'm pretty tired." She smiled to Maurice as he nodded and smiled back. (Y/N) flew into the air and up into her tree. It the furthest into the woods but still in sight of the main area. Maurice looked back to the fire and saw Rocket looking at him. 

"Caesar?" He signed/asked concerned. 

Maurice nodded, "gone to bed." He signed. 

(Y/N) sat in her tree house. Large leaves and sticks were bound together to create a bed. She laid down with her wings wrapped around her as she laid on the wolf's skin. (Y/N) tried to stay strong but after being unsuccessful, she let the tears fall, glad that no one was around to watch her. She cried and cried for what seemed like many hours but was actually only one hour. And soon she fell into a restless sleep.
