(Y/N) Your Name

"Signing"

"Talking"

"Bad Ape!" He struggled to say. "Bad Ape." He said a little calmer.

"Who are you?" Rocket asked.

"What are you doing here?" Luca added. But the ape only looked at them confused. "I don't think he understands." Luca pointed out.

"I don't recognise him. He's not one of us." Rocket noted.

"Are you alone here?" Caesar asked. The 'bad ape' nodded hesitantly. Then he looked to the two girls and his eyes widened. The three other apes followed his gaze until he reached into his jacket. Rocket hooted, causing the others to look back at the odd ape.

The ape looked back up them and asked, "cold?" He then took his jacket off and pointed to the girls. "Cold." They saw the little girl shivering in (Y/N)'s wings. (Y/N) was shivering a little but not as much as the 12 year old.

'Bad Ape' started a fire and sat in front of the others. He had given the younger girl his green winter jacket and the older girl a brownish-black jacket, perfect for her size. She ripped the back of the collar so it would fit her wings.

"I see girl, I think you human. But you ape. Like me!" He explained. The 12 year old girl sat by Maurice, playing with something she found on the floor. "No, put down." He said to her as he grabbed the piece of metal and placed it on the floor.

"How long have you been here?" Caesar asked.

"Long time. Long, long time." Then he gave a single hoot of excitement and jumped up and ran over to hammock that held many items. He came back with a toy alligator and handed it to Caesar. "Home." He said. "Old home." Caesar examined the toy and found "Sierra Zoo" written on the stomach of the alligator.

"Are there more like you? More apes from zoo?"

"Dead. All dead. Long time. Human get sick. Ape get smart. Then human kill ape. But not me. I run."

"You learn to speak..." Caesar said.

"Listen. Human... 'Bad Ape!'" He said, imitating what the humans would say to him. "Bad Ape." He said as he pointed to himself as if that was his name. "No." He said as he pulled the piece of metal away from the girl again. "No touch." He looked back to Caesar. "That's mine." He stuttered. Then suddenly he got up again and ran back to where he found the alligator. He slipped and fell and called out, "I'm okay!"

"Very coordinated, isn't he?" (Y/N) signed sarcastically, making Rocket and Luca chuckle.

"Amazing! Always thought we were the only ones. Wonder if there are more in the world? More apes like us." Maurice signed to Caesar. Bad Ape came back to the others and pulled out packets of food. Small packets of crackers.

"Eat! Eat." He said. "New friends. Special day." Caesar grabbed a packet and read the back. It said, "CALIFORNIA BORDER QUARANTINE FACILITY".

"Where did you get this?" Caesar asked.

"Bad place." Bad ape replied with a mouth full of food. "I find long time ago. After zoo, I look for food. I find human zoo. Zoo for sick. Big walls. Sick human climb. Bad human kill. And then, all get sick. All dead now for a long time. Long time."

"Bad humans?" Caesar asked. "Soldiers?" Bad Ape nodded, sort of scared.

"Soldiers..." He whispered.

"A deserted military camp!" Rocket signed. "On the border!

"Maybe the Colonel and the troops are going there?" Luca put in. Caesar looked back to Bad Ape.

"Is it far? Can you take us?" He asked.

"Human zoo? No! No, no go back there. Everyone dead. I come here, very safe here. Never go back." But Caesar would stop.

"Please, you must take us!" He said raising his voice.

"Caesar!" (Y/N) said, putting her hand on his shoulder trying to calm him down.

"No! No! Cannot take! Cannot take! No! No!" Bad Ape yelled as he stood up, causing the others to jump up in surprise. "Look! Look!" He said as he pointed outside. "More snow. Cannot go. Must stay! You eat, you rest. Stay here with me." He looked back to the younger girl and handed her the piece of metal she played with before. "Here, you keep. She keep." He said as he smiled. The girl and Maurice looked at the small object. It said 'Nova' in cursive writing.

Everyone was asleep, except Caesar and Bad Ape. The 12 year old girl laid down, cuddled up in Maurice's arms. Caesar watched the young girl while he had his arm over his sister, who leaned into his chest and wrapped her wings around the both of them.

"Who is... child?" Bad Ape asked quietly. Caesar looked over to him.

"I don't know." He said.

"But she with you."

"She has no one else."

"I see you look at her just now. Look sad. You have child?" Bad Ape asked. Caesar froze.

"One. The other was killed by human."

"Soldier?" Bad Ape asked. Caesar didn't answer. "What about other girl?"

Caesar looked down at (Y/N) and tightened his grip around her. "Sister."

"But she human?"

"I've known her ever since I can remember. Always been there for me."

Bad Ape froze this time and gave a sad smile. Almost shedding a tear. "I had child." He said. "You think you will find him... at human zoo?" He asked referring to Colonel McCullough. "With soldier?" He asked as Caesar looked to him.

"I don't know. Maybe."

"Then... maybe I take you."
