(Y/N) Your Name

"Signing"

"Talking"

"So I'm going to give you a few situations that you might have to face when you take over as leader and you have to tell me what you would do. Got it?" (Y/N) explained.

"Got it." Cornelius nodded. (Y/N) was in the forest with Cornelius. Cornelius was almost four years old and Caesar became leader of the apes at eight years old (Cornelius is almost 13 in human years. Caesar was around 25 when he became leader and 64 (20 in ape years) when he died). Even though Cornelius still had around eight to ten years until he was considered mature enough to lead the apes, (Y/N) wanted him to be able start training and preparing to become leader as soon as he could. But she didn't force him to train all the time, she still let him relax and hang out with friends whenever he wanted.

"What if you're alone and you can't find your way back home?"

"Retrace my steps, watch for signs of other apes or threats and stay off the ground when I can."

"Good. What if someone attacks our home?"

"Help females and young escape while the others defend home. Unless threat becomes too big then we all escape through the forests.

"Well done. You seem to have at least some common sense in there." She teased. Cornelius rolled his eyes at her. "You been practising your speaking?" (Y/N) asked.

"...Y-yep. H-harder than... I thought." Cornelius said while he slightly struggled. (Y/N) smiled at him.

"You sound just like Caesar. Only not as deep." She laughed. Cornelius gave a sad smile.

"I... miss him. Mother and Blue Eyes too." He said/signed. (Y/N) looked at him with sympathy. She gave him a hug.

"I miss them too." She released the hug. "They would be so proud of you." She said then gave a smirk. "Now let's see how you go now that you're older and stronger."

"Wait, doing what?" Cornelius signed curiously.

"...We'll be practising your sneak attacks."

"Really? Sounds boring.

"Oh so you think that you wouldn't be able to sneak up on me? Yeah, me neither. You're a bit out of practise." She said smugly.

"Excuse me? I could beat you at anything, any time." Cornelius challenged.

"Alright then. Your aim is to sneak up on me without me hearing you or catching you first. Got it?"

"You're on."

"I'll give you fifteen seconds to hide. Go." (Y/N) shut her eyes and counted to fifteen. Cornelius ran for a couple of seconds and climbed up a tree so he could have a good view of when (Y/N) would get closer. He saw her walk past his tree before she ran in a different direction. Cornelius began to move out of the tree before he was startled by a calm voice next to his ear.

"Found you." He jumped out of the tree and rolled onto the ground then stood up.

"What? How? I saw you going that way!" He exclaimed as he pointed in the direction he saw (Y/N) run. "And that was creepy by the way." He mentioned which made (Y/N) laugh.

"Sorry, but it was a little funny." She said. Cornelius rolled his eyes. (Y/N) giggled but stopped. She looked around the trees. 'What?' Cornelius asked by giving a questioning hoot. "Shh, be quiet." She signed. She looked around the trees and heard the noise again. The abnormal sound rung through her ears. She didn't know what it was but it definitely sounded like something that shouldn't be in a forest. Cornelius looked around the trees along with (Y/N). (Y/N) froze for a second before she rapidly flew up into a tree behind her. She grabbed something off a branch as she past. She held it tightly as she landed on the ground. Cornelius ran over next to her. (Y/N)'s eyes glowed red as she looked at what she caught. But, it was... just a bird.

"What?" (Y/N) whispered.

"Well done...you caught the trespasser." Cornelius laughed.

"But, no. I heard something." (Y/N) argued as she stood up and let the bird go. "It wasn't normal. I don't know what it was but it was something... strange. Strange as if... as if you wouldn't hear it in a forest." (Y/N) explained.

"Any idea what it could've been?" Cornelius asked. (Y/N) shook her head.

"No. But on the bright side, that was a good demonstration on how to catch real trespassers." Cornelius shrugged his shoulders while he nodded. (Y/N) faced the direction of the ape home. "Come on. Enough training for today." She said. Cornelius walked with her, a concerned look was shown on his face.
