a/n: hi! welcome to chapter 9!
Jesy's POV:
"Miss Nelson?" I hear the doctor say my name. I kept my last name for business reasons no matter how much I wanted to take Chris's. "Yes," I say standing up to meet him. "So, as you know your husband was in a car accident. He will be fine but his leg is in pretty bad shape. Unfortunately he has no feeling in his right leg. He will be able to make a full recovery but, it will be a long journey. He's going to need a lot of care and physical therapy. With all of that, I can see his recovery in about six months at the earliest," the doctor explains.
All I could do was nod my head. The doctor soon walked away and I walked in the direction of his room. I was relieved that he was alive, but also very concerned about his leg. "Glad you decided to scare me!" I say to him jokingly. He laughs, "Sorry babe, it was a freak thing and there was no avoiding it," he says still laughing a little. "Well, at least you'll be okay," I say, giving him a peck on the lips. "Sorry we'll have to put off our future family arrangements, he apologizes. As if on cue, I receive a text from Leigh, saying the test results. Shocked but not that surprised I tell them just to stay there and i'll be home soon. The doctors said no visitors over night so i'll have to go home anyway. "There's no way you could have known this was going to happen," I reassure him when I realized I never answered him. I pull over the chair next to him and rest my head on his arm.
Jade's POV:
"Crap," I say, feeling the tears fall. Every emotion I had been holding back for the past few weeks just came out. "Hey babe, it will be okay. You have us and the kids and everything will be great," Leigh and Perrie say trying to reassure me. "Do you want to go snuggle on the couch?" Leigh asks. I nod. "Okay, let's go," Perrie says grabbing my hand.
We sit on the couch in silence for a few minutes, except for the sound of me sniffling. "He did it on purpose," I say quietly after a few minutes. "What?" I hear Perrie say confused, "What do you mean?" I sit up, "I think he did it on purpose. One of the things we were arguing about was expanding our family. He wanted another kid and I wasn't ready. He kept pressuring me about it so it would make sense if he did it intentionally," I say feeling the tears build up again. "Is that why you stopped eating?" Leigh asked. I look over at her. "We've noticed your old habits coming back and you eating very little." I nod. Fighting with Jed mixed with morning sickness had just demolished my appetite. "I'm so dumb for letting this happen," I say under my breath. Perrie heard me. She pulled me into a hug and said, "No your not. There's no way you could have known. You should be able to trust your husband so none of this is on you," she said trying to make me feel better when in reality, it just made me cry more. "And, you get a sweet bundle of joy out of it," Perrie says playfully making me smile. I guess there is one good thing out of this.
We all borrowed some of Jesy's pajamas so we could have a movie night before we went home. We all got changed in Jesy's room considering if was normal for us because we're used to changing backstage together. "Jade, have you checked your stomach?" Leigh says, confusing me. Shaking my head I look in the mirror. There was a small, but slightly noticeable bump forming. "Wow, I didn't even notice that," I respond. All I have been wearing the past few weeks were sweatshirts so I'm not that surprised.
Perrie's POV:
After the first movie Leigh and Jade fell asleep. Jesy came home and joined us out there. "Hey, how are you doin-" she stops when she realizes they're asleep. After waiting a few seconds, she speaks in a quieter voice," How's everything?" she asks. "Better then expected," I say with a small grin, "How's Chris?" Jesy's eyes widened. "Oh, sorry, I completely forgot to text you guys. He's going to need a lot of physical therapy because of his leg going numb but, he'll, eventually, make a full recovery," she explains. "Oh, I'm sorry babe. At least he's okay," I say relieved. "Yeah, I don't know what I'd do without him," she says, making me smile. "You two are perfect," I say. She smiles, "Says you. Have you met your family?" Crap. My family. "Hey, I forgot, I told Alex I would be home at 7," I say looking at the time. Realizing it's about 6:50, I look over at Jade. As much as it pains me, I gently shake her awake.
Once she's awake, we say our goodbyes to Jesy and a somewhat conscious Leigh. Once we get home, we're greeted by three pairs of feet running to the door. "Mamy," all three children yell. Gently giving Izzy a hug, I guide them into the living room. Sitting on the couch, I'm joined by Alex next to me and Izzy in my lap, followed by a Jade on the other couch with the twins, who immediately started climbing on her to get comfortable. "Hey, hey careful," she says, protectively moving her hand over her stomach. "So, how was your two's day today?" Alex asked, obviously picking up the fact something is going on. "Interesting," we both said in unison, making us smile. "Okay," he says playfully, ignoring whatever faces I made at him.
At about 9, we put the kids to sleep. "Hey, it's nine," I say to Alex when I realize what time it is. I look over and see Jade fast asleep, with the twins resting their heads on her shoulders, wide awake. "Don't wake her, i'll put them and her to bed," I say to Alex. "Okay," he says picking up Izzy and giving her a hug and kiss goodnight. "Night babe," I say as Alex takes her up the stairs. "Hey girls, ready for bed?" I ask Jasmine and Jolie. They both respond with head nods. "Okay, let's go," I say holding out both of my hands. The grabbed them and we started walking over to the stairs. "Wait," I hear Jolie say as she breaks aways, "I want to say goodnight to mamy." She walks over to Jade and gives her a kiss on the cheek, careful not to wake her up. My heart melts as she runs back over to me. "Ready?" I ask, as they respond with more nods.
We get up the stairs and into the spare room. The twins have been sleeping one of the spare rooms and Jade has been in the other. The twins stopped staying in Izzy's room after the first couple of days when they felt safe. I change them into their matching Aladdin pajamas and tuck them into the bed. I waited a few minutes and watched them fall asleep. I started to walk out of the room when I heard "Auntie Perrie," from behind me. I turn around and see Jaz looking over at me and Jolie fast asleep. "Yeah baby?" I ask bending down to the bed. "Are we going to see Daddy again? Or did he hurt mamy too much?" she asked with sadness behind hear voice. I completely forgot that the twins had seen part of the argument, including where Jed had hit her. Unsure of what to say I just answer, "I'm not sure honey, it might be a while before you could see him again." What do you say to a three year old asking questions like that. "Okay, good. I don't ever want to see Daddy again," she says with a almost angry tone. My heart broke for her, "No matter what happens, you're going to be okay. Alright?" I tell her, re-tucking her in. "Goodnight," she replied, closing her eyes. "Night baby," I say, giving her a kiss on the head.
I walk back down the stairs and into the living room. Hearing me walk in, Jade turns around to look at me. Tears were flowing down her face. "Hey, babe what's wrong?" I ask as I hurry over to where she was on the coach. "I'm scared," she replied. "Aww come here," I say, giving her a big hug, letting her cuddle up next to me. "I don't know how I'm going to raise another human by myself along with two toddlers," she said, making her cry more. "Babe, you basically raised Jaz and Jolie by yourself and look how amazing they are already. Plus, you aren't alone, you have my family, Jesy's, and Leigh's. Don't think we're going to make you do this alone," I say trying to calm her down. "You're going to be amazing," I say, rubbing her shoulder. I decided I should wait to bring up the conversation I had with Jaz until further in the future.
