Time Ahead

chapter forty-four

Perrie's POV:

I tossed and turned in my sleep. I haven't been able to sleep at all tonight because of what's happening tomorrow. I finally get to know what gender bean is. I don't know why I'm so nervous because i'll be happy either way, but I can't shake that feeling. I finally fall asleep for a few hours and when I woke up Alex was already awake. I found him in the kitchen cooking. "Whatcha making?" I ask. "No, go back to bed you weren't supposed to be awake yet," he said. I roll my eyes and give him a hug. "I love you," I say. "I love you too, now go sit down," he says.

The two of us ate breakfast chatting about baby bean. Izzy had slept over in Jade's room to play with the twins so it was nice for it just to be the two of us, well, three of us. Alex collected the dishes and I went to pick out my outfit. I opted for a light blue dress. It was long and flowed but it fit around my bump perfectly. I sat down in from of the mirror to do my makeup and hair. My phone buzzed next to me and it was Jade. She had sent a picture of Izzy and the twins eating breakfast together laughing their heads off. My heart fluttered at how happy she was. Those kids have a true bond just like us girls. I put on my makeup very lightly and left my hair in some waves. I put on some sandals and met Alex by the door. He was wearing a light pink button down and some black dress pants. We walked hand-in-hand to the car over to a park.

The place Jesy reserved was hidden from the main park so we didn't have to worry about anyone seeing us. It wasn't close enough to our houses where we could do it there so in return I bought all my family members train tickets to us and back home. Alex and I walked out of the car and joined Jesy, Chris, Leigh, Andre, and Jade. They each greeted me with a hug and Alex with a handshake. We sat down at the picnic table and chatted until people started arriving. Leigh was wearing a rosy pink dress and some gold shoes. Jesy was wearing a darker pink crop top with some light blue jeans. Jade was wearing a dark blue romper and some brown sandals.

It was weird being there with no kids. We had sent them all with our dancers who volunteered to take them as long as we Facetimed them. We didn't want Izzy to find out yet until we knew the gender first.

Little by little, people started showing up. My mam of course was there early, followed by my dad, brother, and sister. My other family members arrived as well as Ellie and some other family friends.

Once everyone had arrived, Jesy brought out the balloon for us. Once it was all set up, she grabbed a microphone. "Are you ready?" she asked. Everyone shouted different answers making us laugh. Jesy took my hand and led us over to the balloon. She hand me the pin and moved back over with the others. "On three!" she said, holding up her phone to record. "One, two, three!" everyone shouted. I hit the balloon with the pin and it burst open with confetti flying everything. It took me a minute to register what color it actually was. "It's a boy!" I shouted. I was suddenly overwhelmed with emotion and Alex embraced me into a hug. "I told you baby bean was a boy!" I said laughing. "Baby bean?" Leigh asked. "Yeah, that's what we have been calling it, him," I corrected. The girls came over and hugged me as well as my family.

Once everyone had left, the girls and I sat at the picnic table and took in all the time we could wit kids. "Are you happy it's a boy?" Jesy asked. "Of course," I said. "Its always been my dream to have a boy and girl," I said. "Now Kaiden will have a playmate!" Leigh said excitedly. My face lit up at the thought of that and I turned to Jade who was sitting beside me. I pulled her into a side hug and smiled. "Do you have any names picked out?" Jesy asked. "I have a few I like. I was thinking something like Brent or maybe after my dad. I don't know yet though," I aid. "You'll know when you see him," Jade said reassuringly. "I sure hope so," I said nervously laughing.

Once we cleaned up the area, we all went back to our rooms. Alex and I cuddled on the couch watching a Netflix movie while Izzy played with her mermaid dolls. "Mammy," she asked. "Yeah sweetie?" I asked. "When can I go back to my swim practice?" she asked turning to me. I felt a little guilty. She wasn't able to come to practice until after we got back from tour and she loved it. Its not particularly easy taking her to the pool at our hotels everything either considering our schedules are so busy. "Soon babe, I promise," I said. She nodded and turned back to her dolls. Tour was over in a month or two so she wouldn't have to wait too much longer.
