. . .
The King wasn't enthralled at the recent news brought in at the break of dawn.
He didn't necessarily require sleep at this time, but the incoherent mumbles and stutters that dragged almost for an hour bored him. He needed to listen to the whole report without missing a beat. The people of the Sanctuary were his priority and their safety included.
The chancellor of the Sanctuary was nervous, despite having to actually stand before the King himself. Some of his words were slurred and his voice had become too soft for the King to catch. However, amidst the nervousness, the King remained still and considerate throughout the whole delivery.
When the chancellor finished his part his assistant quickly took over to conclude the final findings. The King nods in utmost understanding and gratitude for the report of the gradual growth and condition of his kingdom.
"Your presences have been acknowledged. You are dismissed. I expect a new report in the next two moons." The King announces.
Both assistant and shaky chancellor fully bows down before hustling out of the chamber.
The eerie silence envelops the empty hall, yet it is what he favors the most when he needs to rest. The King briefly closes his eyes.
His thumb lightly rubs the silky surface of the golden armchair. He stops and deeply exhales. The report shouldn't be that much of a burden to the King, yet somehow he couldn't help feel the strange uneasiness in his chest.
He couldn't stop pondering over the nightmares that had occurred a few months ago. It stopped appearing just the day after the birth of his sons. His concerns regarding the nightmares subsided for a while, as it was replaced by other matters.
A small group of special refugees, ones that can tell of others about their future prophesies delivered by time and fate itself will soon migrate to their Sanctuary for protection. Moreover, the small community will offer special protection in exchange to live under the safe mountains.
The Sanctuary has had a good reputation for being an organized and a fit vampire society. It wasn't the general bloodthirsty vampires that lusted after humans. They fed for a reason and were able to control their own desires. Despite having a wife who was once human, there was no reason for the community to harm mankind.
The King has yet to meet the small group of special beings first. After all, he has only heard rumours about them from his rather sloppy chancellor.
When it's only the King left alone in the discreet chamber, he relaxes on his throne. His thoughts shift to another perspective and he proceeds to stand up.
As two familiar giggles echo through his ears, the King couldn't refrain a smile from broadening, causing his cheeks to rise. The King leaves the chamber and embraces his two sons toddling after him.
SeokJin jumps up to wrap his arms around his Father and from behind is the rather slow Xavier. He suddenly turns sour that SeokJin won the unknown challenge of racing to their Father. Xavier frowns, although the King was beckoning for the older twin to come forth and join the embrace.
The Queen emerges from behind, dressed in an elegant slender white gown that projects simplicity and kindness. The white tiara situated on her head accentuates the divine status as the first Queen of the Sanctuary. She smiles at the sight of both SeokJin and her husband and proceeds to carry the whiny Xavier in her own arms.
"The older twin has quite a temper now, does he? Or is he merely jealous of his younger twin?" The King comments as he ambles close to his wife with SeokJin in his arms.
