Standing next to Selena, I watched as all five of them rocked out to their music. Their music was actually quite spectacular, and it appeared that the crowd shared the same opinion as me as they cheered and sang along. I found my eyes constantly drawn over to Glen. The concentration on his face was obvious, yet you could tell he was still having a good time. Mark was prancing around stage with his guitar, banging his head to the music. Danny was running up and down the stage, singing his heart out. Ben and Rodney were stationed back, but they too appeared to be enjoying their places.
"They truly are amazing." I whispered to Selena. She simply nodded, watching fascinated next to me.
The stage lights shone straight onto them, making their smiles more prominent. Their eyes shone with excitement as they continued to play, earning more cheers from the crowd.
It was less time than I thought before all five of them had to leave the stage. Together, they bowed, thanked the crowd, then exited the stage. I felt obliged to congratulate them.
"That was fantastic." I smiled brightly. "I never knew you guys were so good."
"Anything happen?" Glen asked, his eyes focusing straight on me. I had forgotten how beautiful and pristine they were.
"Nothing." I managed to say, still locking gaze with him. "Does that mean it's all over and he was only trying to scare me?"
"I guess we will find out. We best head back to the hotel." Danny declared, beginning to lead the way towards the exit.
"Let me just grab a drink first." I said, heading a different way towards the fridge. Glen followed after me.
"Are you still scared?" He asked, looking into my face.
"Honestly? I am petrified. But aren't I supposed to be?" I focused my attention on the bottle of water that I had taken out of the fridge. "I know that I shouldn't be and all that, but I am. When someone tries to kill you, then mysteriously gets your phone number, you tend to be scared." I looked up into his face.
"Sometimes, being scared is a good thing. It fuels the energy we need to get through the day." He stepped slightly closer. He took my small hand in his large ones. "Everything is going to be okay. I am not going to let you get hurt."
I nodded slowly. I heard footsteps from behind me. I turned around quickly to see who it was. Mark rounded the corner. Panic consumed the features on his face.
"What happened?" I asked, fear igniting within.
"The exit has been locked from the outside."
"What?" I gasped. "How are we going to get out?"
"That's the thing: I have no idea."
I turned back around to face Glen. He made a big attempt to hide his panic, but it didn't work. This only enhanced my panic. "Maybe it was just a mistake?"
Push it down. It will be okay.
I placed my unopened bottle of water down. Before either of them could tell me otherwise, I walked down the corridor to try the door myself. As I reached it, I placed my hands firmly against the cool metal and pushed with all my strength. I threw my whole body against the door, repeatedly. There was no way the door was going to budge. Panic began to set in.
There's no getting out of this mess.
