I don't know whether I was actually expecting to find an exit, or whether I just wanted to go through the effort of trying to find one so I didn't feel useless. Either way, one was not found. Even as we walked around the place together, checking every door and possible means of escape around, nothing was found. Even as the darkness began filtering through the high up windows, we continued looking. It wasn't until the moonlight began shining through the windows that we realised how tired we were.

"We should head back." I stated, rubbing at my eyes.

Mark agreed, leading the way back to the shower room.

Mark knocked on the door and Glen answered, letting us in. Inside, Danny was sound asleep with a blanket wrapped around him. He looked so vulnerable like that. His hair - that had always been gelled up in a quiff - was now flat. I couldn't help but smile.

Mark locked the doors after us. Glen sat down against a wall, pulling a blanket over himself. I sat down next to him. He lifted up the blanket and tucked it over me. I nestled into him.

"Find anything?" He asked.

"Not a thing." I answered.

I felt his chest rise and fall with each breath. His warmth diffused from him to me. "I'm on first watch. You might as well sleep." His voice was gentle.

"I'm not all that tired." I muttered back.

"How about a lullaby?"

"That's the first time anyone has offered to sing me to sleep."

"There's a first time for everything." He wrapped his arm over my shoulders.

"I'd like that." I said to him.

"Drinking old cheap bottles of wine. Sit talking up all night. Saying things we haven't for a while. We're smiling but we're close to tears. Even after all these years. We just now got the feeling that we're meeting for the first time." His voice was delicate and beautiful. He sang it slowly, causing my eyes to slowly become more and more heavy.

"Your voice is beautiful." I muttered, fatigue holding me in a firm grip.

"You're the first person to say that." He sounded embarrassed.

"There's a first time for everything." I mumbled. I couldn't hold my eyes open. Slowly, I relaxed into Glen's warmth, feeling like I was wrapped up in a cocoon.

My eyes fluttered open. I looked up. Glen's eyes were closed, his mouth open slightly. His breathing was deep and his arm was relaxed over my shoulders. I smiled slightly. Slowly, I looked around the room, noticing Danny was awake, watching me.

"You look happy." He said.

"You don't." I answered.

"Because I'm not." He answered, sounding snappy.

"Is that because you don't have access to your hair gel?" I intended it to come out as a joke, only it came out a whole lot more bitchy. I instantly regretted saying anything. The glare he gave me burnt holes into me. I tried to laugh it off, but he wouldn't join in with the laughter. Nice one, Teghan. Just piss off one of the people who is trying to help you. "I'm going to the toilet." I said, gently moving from the cocoon of blankets and warmth. He still didn't say anything. Someone's tired. Slowly, I made my way across the room, unlocking the door and leaving the room.

Shortly, I returned into the room. Again, Danny didn't look any happier.

"How long have you been up?" I asked.

"A few hours." He didn't seem like he wanted to talk.

"Well, I'm going to look around. Come or stay; I don't mind." I said, standing with my hand on the door handle.

"I'm not supposed to leave you alone." He sighed. "Fine." He stood behind me.

"Shouldn't we tell one of them?"

"They'll be fine. Let's go." He dismissed, following behind me as I opened the door.

Carefully, I closed the door behind me. "Won't Glen be pissed that you left without telling him?"

"Probably." He shrugged.

We turned the corner and continued down the corridor in silence. He had that vibe about him like he didn't want to be talked to, so I didn't even try. Soon, we were mounting the stairs onto the stage. I had no idea why. I mean, there weren't any exits close by, yet we found ourselves there anyway. I perched myself at the edge of the stage, staring out into the darkened standing area. Danny joined me, still not talking.

As I opened my mouth to speak, the sound of nails scratching against a chalkboard echoed around the room. I cringed, holding my hands over my ears. It seemed to go on for ages. I looked over at Danny who too had his hands held firmly over his ears.

Soon, the sound subsided. Reluctantly, I removed my hands. "What the hell?" I asked, rising to my feet.

"Hello Teghan." The voice sounded around the room. "And Danny." Danny stood next to me, resting his hand on my upper arm. "How about a game of hide and seek?"
