A beautiful and unique flower is what brought you into the woods in the first place. Its name was unknown to you, but its petals were like nothing you'd ever seen before. White with hints of blue and purple. It grew at the base of a large tree and you made it a habit to stop by and check on the blossom while going on a walk. Having been to the location multiple times, you memorized the way.
A small smile graced your features when you spotted the bloom, crouching down to admire it from a closer perspective. A small part of you wished to dig it up and bring it home with you, but you'd never been good with caring for plants and you would've hated to destroy such a unique flower.

The sharp snap of a twig somewhere in the thicket had your head swiveling towards it. You shot to your feet, fully alert now as you surveyed your surroundings, an uneasy feeling creeping in. Someone—or something was approaching, the crunching of leaves alerting you to the presence. A low snarl reverberated from behind you, sending an eerie chill down your spine. You slowly turned around, knowing what you would find. A wolf prowled through the underbrush, licking its maw hungrily. Your breath caught in your throat as you took in its size. Too big to be a normal wolf.
Your stomach dropped.

You took a step back, attempting to put some distance between you and the massive beast. All it would take was one leap and you'd be dead. You took another step, your movements unhurried despite the fear that gripped you. The dark brown wolf lunged with a snarl and you scrambled to the side, somehow managing to dodge the attack by the skin of your teeth.
You didn't give the wolf another chance to make you his dinner, breaking into a sprint as you fled the area. You knew your chances of making it out unscathed were slim to none. You couldn't outrun a werewolf.
It was a bad idea, but you threw a glance over your shoulder to see how close the monster was. A scream of pure terror ripped from your lungs when you saw how fast the beast was gaining on you, narrowing the gap at a rapid pace. Running off sheer will to live, you pushed your legs to go faster even though your muscles were burning in protest.

A sharp whimper cut through the sound of your heavy breathing and rapid heart pounding in your ears. You slowed to a stop just long enough to see what had happened. A second wolf had appeared, this one with black fur. It had the brown one pinned to the forest floor, snarling and growling at him.
You scurried to hide behind a tree, watching the two scuffle, rolling around and gnashing their sharp teeth at each other.
The brown wolf yelped when the black one bit into his shoulder, the action seeming to put him in his place. The black wolf got off the brown one, growing lowly in a manner that seemed almost threatening. He scurried away in response to the show of dominance.

You stayed hidden, unsure whether to run or not. The black wolf crouched to the ground and you watched in stunned silence as its body shrank and morphed into something else entirely. A man.
He stood and dusted himself off, pushing back his lengthy black hair with a huff. Then he turned to face you, eyes glowing gold. Your breath caught in your throat and your heart rate skyrocketed when he looked directly at you.
