Rachel's POV

I keep myself busy in the kitchen by making breakfast. I can't believe that this day turned out to be a disaster. Last night was so amazing and I woke up this morning happy.

I did not picture my boyfriend fighting with my soon to be step father.I knew that Joe is planning on proposing soon. Today he informed me and I could not be happier. He had already taken the father role to me and my brother a long time ago.

I have never called Joe dad before but seeing how he was defending my honour and protecting me. I knew that he is the one that deserves the father role in my life.

I hope he can be able to give Dan a chance.Everyone makes mistakes but it does not help anyone by dwelling in the past. 

We all need to move forward.

"Baby, I was going to do that." Dan approaches the kitchen. I can see that his nose is starting to swell. 

I take out frozen veges in the freezer.

"Are you sure, your nose is not broken?" I put the ice on his face. He doesn't say anything but just looks at me.

"I have so much adrenaline running in my body. I don't feel any pain." Dan responds.

"You were in there for a long time. What did you guys discuss?" 

"Nothing much but it safe to say it will be hard for me to win him over."

"Why did I have to fall in love with a daughter of a karate champion ?" He adds.

Dan informs me that Joe went home to give us space. They have agreed that Joe will no longer be his personal bodyguard but his head of security only and they will only interact in the office.

I am so glad to hear this as having my dad in this apartment was going to be awkward.

"I think you should go have your nose check out." 

I say to Dan as we are busy having the breakfast I prepared. 

My pancakes look a bit deformed but Dan said they are nice. 

I made myself omelette.I should have paid more attention to Jess ,I would have been a pro by now.

"Yes mam, for your piece of my mind. I will call the doctor to come and check on me."

"You should check it out. I don't  want your face to end up looking more ugly than it already is." I tease him.

"Really Miss Smith." He smirks.

After breakfast. Dan goes to take a shower before the doctor arrives. 

I clear the kitchen and I decide to call my mom and Jess.

I go up to the rooftop. The weather is beautiful and sunny today.

I call my mother first as I want to gentle break the news of Dan and I dating. I know dad will not say anything.But I don't want my mother to get this information from the news.

I also don't want a repeat of what happened this morning.

"Hi mom."

"Hello darling, its good to hear your voice."

"I was about to call you and check if you are at your flat. I need some fresh air. Joe came back early from work today and has not sad much. He is avoiding me."

I better tell my mom now. I don't want to force Joe to keep my secrets which might end up putting an unnecessary strain in their relationship. 

"Mom, don't worry. Joe just has alot on his mind today."

"How do you know that?"

I take a deep breath.

"Mom,Joe found out today that I am dating his boss. I promise, I didn't know otherwise I would have not gotten involved with Dan in the first place."

My mom is silent. I check my phone to make sure the call is still connected.

"Mom, say something."

"Rachel ,I am glad that you have started dating again. I was worried about you."

"You don't have a problem with me dating Dan Carter?" I have to know if she approves.

"You are my daughter, I trust your judgement. If this guy makes you happy. I have no issues."

"Just let him know that if he breaks your heart. He will have me to deal with."

"Don't worry about that mom.Joe has it covered."

I fill my mom in on the events that occurred this morning. By the end of the call everything was back to normal. She promised me that she will handle the situation with Joe.

I feel someone hands hugging me from behind.

 Dan nibbles my other ear whilst I am on the call with Jess.

"Jess I am going to have to call you back."

"What is loverboy up to now? You sound breathless."

"Nothing Jess, bye."

"I want the deeds you...." I end the call cutting her off.

"I thought you left without saying goodbye to me.I looked everywhere for you."

"Why would I leave, I packed for the whole weekend remember?"

"Yah I know ,I was getting paranoid after everything that happened today.But then I realised that you liked the view from roof the last time you were here."

Dan is in deep thought and looking at the city view. I think he is worried that I am having second thoughts about our relationship.

"Dan, I am not going to leave you. Just because there was a misunderstanding between you and my dad this morning."

Dan holds me again and he kisses me.

"It seems like you have not only stolen my heart but you are also my healer."

"Dan is your nose painful?" I inspect it and I see that its reddish and has swollen a little.

Dan pulls me for a kiss again but I refuse. I don't want to make his nose worse.

He pouts.

"Lets go back inside. Maybe the doctor is already here and we wont hear the bell ring."

"I brought my cell with me. She will call if no one answers the door."

"Let's go inside. I want to take a shower too."

"Great then, I will join you."

"In your wildest dreams Danny boy."
