Chapter 17 : Danaya

Just like yesterday, I go to school early to dispose the high heels in a secretive way. I hope that there will be no Mary to disturb me today.

But boy I'm wrong.

Nasa harapan ko na sana ang balon at bubuksan ko na sana ang bag ko nang may umagaw na naman sa aking pansin. Ofcourse, the ever bitchy Mary.

"Ang landi mo kay Cain, akala mo naman mahal ka niyang talaga, you know he's a playboy, right?" she crossed her hands and she walks near me, towering over me.

So kumalat nga ang tungkol samin ni Cain kahapon. And ofcourse, si Mary na palaging updated sa akin, hindi dapat mahuhuli sa tsismis.

"Baka insecure ka lang kasi babaeng-babae ka mula ulo hanggang sa paa pero walang nagkakagusto sayo!"she is speechless for a while because of my words, and it takes her a minute to recover herself.

"Maybe he's just trying you, or maybe because of money." humalakhak siya, "Alam mo naman na ang lalaking gipit, sa bakla kumakapit." humalakhak siya ulit.

Ayaw ko talaga ng away pero parang gusto talaga ng babaeng to eh. Ano bang pakialam niya samin ni Cain?

"Just in case you're not informed Mary, Cain is very wealthy, he doesn't need money. Baka ikaw ang gipit ngayon kaya humihingi ka sakin ng gold? Hah! Bumabalik lang sayo yang mga sinasabi mo!" nawala ang bakas ng tawa sa mukha niya dahil sa sinabi ko. Akala niya huh.

She's now angry. I don't know why she cares about my relationship with Cain. Siguro totoo yung tsismis na may gusto siya kay Cain.

"Pero isipin mo nga Jarred, do you think magtatagal kayo ni Cain? Come on, lalaki siya! He has needs, he will always look for a girl, for a girl's body! Just like mine." her eyes flashed with arrogance and I lower my gaze to her body.

I wanted to laugh. Did she mean, her body? Het not-so-sexy-body? Wanted and needed by Cain? Gosh, can't believe her desperation.

She's not that sexy at all. She is thin and she's honestly flat-chested. But sure, she's pretty, a pretty stick.

"Kaya ba humihingi ka sakin ng gayuma para magkagusto sayo si Cain?" there I finally asked her.

Namula ang kanyang pisngi dahil sa tanong ko. Parang magnanakaw na nahuli sa akto. She's unknowing that the whole campus knows about her feelings towards Cain.

"Ano naman kung gusto ko siya, I know that he will like me too." nagulat ako sa sagot niya, mas nagulat pa ako sa ngisi niya, lumapit siya sakin para magpantay ang aming mukha, "Because you will give me a love potion right? Because you don't want the whole campus to know your secret, right?"

I'm left dumbfounded because of her words. Shit. Mary changed a lot. The innocent and serious Mary I've known in Manila is gone and I don't know this Mary I'm facing right now! Her desperation is just... Beyond normal.

But then, I am like that before, right? I'm also fond of love potions.

"Bukas mo ibibigay sakin ang gayuma Jarred kung ayaw mong malaman ng lahat." lumayo na siya sakin at heto naman ako sumasakit ang ulo.

Sure siya sa sinabi niya? Totohanin niya talaga yun? My mind says that she's just scaring me, that she will not really do it. I hope I'm right.

Mabilis na kumalat sa campus ang bagong contestant ng Miss and Mister Santa Rosa na pambato ng bayan sa regional pageantry ng buong Samar. It is a very big event because all towns in the whole province should have their own contestants and the prizes are overwhelming.
