I sit in my office shifting through various documents that contained information regarding the Ultonis. There had to be something we were missing. The Ultonis had not just risen miraculously after all the years. No, someone had been nurturing its ideas and mission like a parent nurtures their offspring ensuring healthy growth but the question was who?

I turn looking out over the valley below. I'd ensured when I had the mansion built that it would not be easily accessible, which is why I had it built on the side of Mill mountain. It was quite easy to see from the valley, yet one had to take a series of winding residential streets to even find the gates to the drive. The outside was castle like in appearance and looked quite intimidating from the valley below. That was good. It didn't encourage visitors. I take a sip of blood still puzzling over what I was missing as to who was behind the Ultonis. I turn to look once more as the documents that lay strewn across my desk. They were mostly names, numbers, phone, and email records of those thought to be involved with the Ultonis. Most of them had checked out with further investigation and those who hadn't, well most had been either captured or killed. If the Ultonios were to rise in the States New Orleans was definitely the perfect place for it.

With its long, rich history of voodoo and vampires in the French quarters most tourists viewed a dead body as a prop in a tourist attraction while residents were sure to steer clear of dangerous areas. The police department down there had done a decent job in covering up the few bodies that had turned up in the past with relative ease but the attacks had increased drastically over the past few months. Through the use of the media the attacks were usually downplayed as some type of copycat serial killer or as a gang initiation ritual but the public had grown suspicious.

My phone vibrates on the desk and looking to see who it was I letting out a loud groan. As if on cue, Chief Selena Devereux of the New Orleans police department was calling to interrogate me about recent events. Selena was one human woman who didn't give a rat's ass about when and where she ripped someone a new asshole. She was a Black woman in her mid-forties with long black hair that she always wore in a tight bun. Standing at 5, 7 she had a muscular yet feminine build and could take on any human woman or man for that matter with little to no effort. Selena ran a tight ship down there in New Orleans and she didn't do well with fuck ups of any kind. It was her way and her rules, no exceptions.

I picked up my phone swiping to answer. "Selena before you start riding my ass about the murders, I'm working on it as we speak."

There's a pause at the other end before she speaks which was surprisingly calm compared to her usual demanding tone. "Alessandro, I fear that it is not just the humans who are being murdered now. It seems that the group has started targeting supernaturals as well."

"What do you mean?"

"An entire werewolf family, husband, wife, and four pups, has been discovered out in the Bayou killed execution style. A silver bullet through the head and heart." She replies gravely.

"Do you have any leads?"

"Only one. A card with the name Callixos was found at the scene. Does the name ring a bell?"

"Not off the top of my head. I am looking through the information that was given to me by Certus and his team." I state rising from my chair.

"Alessandro, if we don't stop this soon it will be world war and I don't just mean humans." Selena says in a matter of fact tone.

"I know Selena. I must go but I will give you a ring as soon as I can."

"Don't let me down Alessandro" She answers quietly before ending the call. Selena was aware of supernaturals and their abilities but something or someone had spooked her, she had never been that timid. Placing my phone in my pocket I turn to leave but decide to look one last time through the names that hadn't checked out in the New Orleans area. Skimming down the list I stop as a name catches my eye. Callixos. Flinging the list back on my desk I search the pile of phone records until I find his. I see a familiar number appearing quite frequently throughout the record. I skim quickly through the text message records before stopping on a set of texts that were sent on June 25.
