Ettore's POV
After showering and settling into one of the spare bedrooms of the mansion, I roll over staring at the wall as sleep wraps her arms around me.
Before turning in for the day I had consulted with the tailor to have Tiet more appropriate clothing made to be delivered come the evening. Tiet had been asleep when I 'd returned to the room and I was relieved to see that she was still there. Stripping my clothes off I slide under the cotton sheets to sleep chuckling at the pillow she has placed as a divider on the bed. I'd slept soundly that day and awoke that night to find her out on the terrace gazing out across the river Nile.
"Did you not like the clothing I requested for you?"
"It would not be appropriate to accept such things. I am unworthy of such clothing." She replies turning to face me.
"To me you are worthy of anything I have to give." I respond. "Would you please do me the honor of changing into an outfit of your choice?"
"I cannot accept such gifts Sir Ettore." She responds lifting her head with pride.
"I must insist Tiet. If you are to reside with me, I will not have you dressed as a servant." I return calmly.
"Did it ever occur to you that I am a servant?" She snaps angrily.
"Yes, but as long as you are with me you will not be considered a servant but again I must insist that you go and change." I counter in a commanding tone.
Looking at me with angry eyes she storms back inside to do as I had requested. An hour passes before she returns and as I turn to look at her my heart stops. She looked absolutely dazzling. She wore a beaded collar of gold over a cream form fitting sheath dress that accentuated her curves perfectly. Gold bands were on each wrist and a gold snake was on her right arm above her elbow. A gold band sat on her head and gold hoops hung elegantly from her ears.
"You look beautiful."
"Thank you. No one has ever told me that before." She says coming to stand beside me.
Taking her arm gently I turn her to face me gently lifting her chin. "Tiet, you know what I am but not all vampires are evil. If you let me, I will not only show you who I am but I will also love you and tell you how beautiful you are for as long as you have me. If you have me."
"Why me?" She questions. "You know nothing about me. Do you even know what I am?"
"I don't care what you are Tiet. I love you and I want to show you that I love you for the rest of your existence."
Closing the space between us she looks deeply into my eyes. "Sir Ettore."
"Please call me Alessandro." I reply kissing her hand lightly. She shudders as my lips touch her skin and I can't help the skip my heart takes.
"Come sit with me." I request walking to a nearby chaise and she silently follows. "Tiet after I saw you that night my thoughts raced about being with you. As thoughts of you turned in my head words of my heart flooded my mind."
"What were your heart's words?"
"She has no rival,
there is no one like her.
She is the fairest of all.
She is like a star goddess arising
... at the beginning of a new year;
brilliantly white, shining skin;
such beautiful eyes when she stares,
and sweet lips when she speaks;
she has not one phrase too many.
With a long neck and shining body
her hair of genuine lapis lazuli;
her arm more brilliant than gold;
her fingers like lotus flowers,
ample behind, tight waist,
her thighs extend her beauty,
shapely in stride
when she steps on the earth.
She has stolen my heart
Whoever embraces her is happy,
he is like the head of lovers,
and she is seen going outside
like That Goddess, the One Goddess."
I'd never opened my heart like this before and as she sits in silence I fear being rejected. "Alessandro, I don't think it would work. I am a witch and you are a vampire." She replies stroking my cheek.
My heart leapt with excitement and confusion. A witch? I wondered how I had not sensed that. She must not have reached her full capabilities yet. That meant she was immortal and I would never lose her. Thoughts rush through my mind and I grab her pulling her close to me and kiss her passionately.
Breaking our kiss I looked into her eyes. "Tiet, I don't care what you are. I just want the opportunity to show you how much I love you. Will you give me that chance?"
She looks at me and I hold my breath as the minutes pass before she finally answers. "Only if you promise to never stop loving me regardless of what happens. Alessandro, I am fated by the Gods for something that is bigger than both you and I but as to what I do not know. I may not walk many seasons of the Earth but if you prove your love to me, I promise I will find my way back to you."
"I am willing to take that chance Tiet. I will wait for you until the end of time if I have to." I reply holding her close.
"Then I am yours and you are mine." She whispers kissing me softly on the lips. Picking her up, I carry her to the bedroom as the drapes fall with a swish behind us.
Unbeknownst to both of us a God looked down on Tiet and I as we made love before turning to his wife. "I think this time she has finally found the right one. His love is eternal and he will suffer many a trial in his love for her but together they will fulfill the prophecy." He says taking his wife's hand. With a wave of his hand our image disappears. The God's wife sits in silence simply squeezing his hand lightly in reply.
