I sit up on the edge of the bed grumbling at the alarm going off on the night table. Class starts at 06:15 pm and I thank the elders it was fall or else it would have still been light outside making class impossible. Throwing the covers back I get up heading to shower before I head off to class. I shower quickly heading to the closet for a pair of jeans, black t-shirt and boots. What could I say? It was my signature outfit.

Heading down to the garage I look over my choices of transportation. Think I'm going to play it down tonight. Even though I owned a multi-million dollar clothing empire, I'd always chosen to stay out of the limelight. I always sent a media rep in my place for any type of event. I was known for being mysterious and that's how I wanted it to stay. The less they knew about me the better. Few people even knew who the founder was behind the Forever Ettore clothing line was or what he or she looked like for that matter. Seeing as how I had decided to downplay things I choose my old 1993 Jeep Cherokee.

"Come on ol' girl. Let's go see if ol' Alessandro can still learn a thing or two." I say throwing my backpack in the passenger seat patting the steering wheel as I crunk her up. I had adopted a southern drawl since I had moved to the states and even I surprised myself sometimes in how I sounded. Turning the radio to one of the local radio stations I slowly make my way down the winding roads to the valley toward Roanoke University. Forty five minutes later I'm pulling into the University parking lot listening to "Highway to Hell" by AC/DC. Finding an empty parking spot near the back of the lot I grab my backpack and sling it over my shoulder looking down at the schedule.

Okay, so first class was an elective, criminal justice-4306, 2nd floor of Adams Hall, room 218. One good thing about night school was that the classes were small and not many students wanted to do it, so there were never as many students on campus this time of evening. Pulling open the door I follow the signs listing class numbers for each wing. Heading up the stairs and turning right I head down the hall. 210, 212, 214, 216, 218 ahh here we go. I was early so I didn't expect many students to be here yet. I walk in and looked around. The tables are arranged in 6 different groups around the room. There are two girls sitting at a set of tables to the right chatting quietly. One was a brunette with short hair wearing entirely too much make up. She wore a black sweatshirt and jeans with bangle bracelets that jingled every time she moved. That was going to get irritating real quick. The second girl had long blonde hair and was wearing a sweater dress and like the first girl, entirely too much makeup. There was another girl who sat reading in the left corner. She had long dirty blonde hair pulled back into a messy ponytail. She wore glasses and had on a striped sweater and black pants. A guy sat in the front group of tables wearing a green pull over and jeans listening to an ipod. A girl with medium length black hair sat beside him engrossed in her laptop. She wore a long sleeve t-shirt that said I hate mornings and black tights.

As I look to the back I stop on a girl sitting in the group of tables at the back right of the class. She had long curly hair that she had pulled back into a loose pony tail and caramel skin. She wore a black long sleeve v-neck sweater with gray high waist pants that flared to wide legs and black boots. She had on a silver infinity necklace and a set of diamond dangle earrings. She sat sideways in her chair facing the door, her back against the wall and one leg stretched out across the chair in front of her with one arm propped up on the table and the other draped across the back of her chair. Her laptop was open on her desk beside her notebook and textbook which she had stacked neatly as she sat observing everyone else in the class. Our eyes meet and she looks at me with an expression that I can't exactly decipher. Something told me that she had one hell of an attitude but there was something about her. I was drawn to her and I head to the back of the class to the set of tables beside her to the left. She didn't speak but watched me as I sat down beside her before she turned around. The remaining students filtered in before the professor finally made her appearance around 06:20 pm.

"Good evening class. I am your professor Carol Sampson." The professor starts removing her glasses to clean them. She was a short light skinned woman in her early fifties and wore her hair tied back in a tight bun and gave off an air of authority. "I teach part-time in the evenings but I work full time as the chief of police at Virginia Tech University and I prefer to be addressed as Chief Sampson."

Ahhh. That explains that air of authority. After covering the syllabus and the faculty expectations she asks everyone to share their name and a little about themselves. Slowly she makes her way around the room to each student. These humans certainly liked to share a lot about themselves. As the student in front, Melissa who worked part-time at Heery's, finishes her introduction its my turn. All eyes are on me and I can practically see all of the girls drooling as they strip me down in their minds, except her. We both sat sideways in our chairs facing the front of the class. I see her out of the corner of my eye turn to look and me and I suddenly became nervous. What the hell?! Why in the hell am I nervous?

"Uhhh. My name is Scott Ettore and I am from the Roanoke area." True for the most part. "This is my first year in school here at Roanoke." True. "For the past 15 years I have worked in law enforcement" Somewhat true.

It was my turn to look at her as it was now her turn. "My name is Annalise Addison. This this is my first year here at Roanoke and my major is psychology." She says flatly tilting her head at me as if to say "what in the hell are you looking at?"

I couldn't help but notice her chocolate brown eyes before she turned to look at the next student as he began his introduction. I was disappointed. I was hoping that she would have shared a little more about herself. Hell the rest of the humans did.

Once the introductions were done, Chief begins to cover our class project. "This project counts as 50% of your grade." She says pushing her glasses up. "I will split you into groups of three and you will pick a method of policing to research. After researching your chosen method you will then create a power point presentation that you will present to the class. Each member of the group will be required to present a portion of the presentation. You will need to find time to meet outside of class if you hope to accomplish this task. You will also work with your group throughout the class, so if you have any issues with one another I suggest you deal with them."

I hope she doesn't put me with little miss happy over here I think to myself but I secretly hoped she would. I was drawn to her yet at the same time I didn't want to work with her. Chief stands counting heads in the classroom before she assigns us to groups which she unfortunately did by how we were already group according to our seats. I look around as she split us into groups. Shit! I would be working Annalise I realize just as I hear Chief.

"Andretta, Scott, and Annalise. You three will work together." Son of a bitch! Well is this going to be fun. How in the hell would this turn out?

The rest of the class we spend listening to Chief lecturing on the various ethical codes of law enforcement ending class with a homework assignment. I take my time packing my things as I wait for her to walk out. She packs her stuff in to her backpack and slinging it on her shoulder she heads for the door. She was small and petite yet you could tell that she was by no means a weakling. The way she walked was absolutely breathtaking and she had a nice ass to be her size. Slinging my backpack over my shoulder I walk out behind her, my eyes glued to her ass, as I trail behind her down the hall and out the front door. Heading to the jeep I get in looking in the rear-view mirror as I watch her get into a light colored Toyota Camry. Hmmmm. You could tell a lot about a person from their choice of car. A Toyota was not necessarily a cheap car but it was long lasting, dependable and economical.
