Just letting y'all know that in this particular story I made the reader a bit like Bakugo. Pretty cynical. That's all!

Days always started the same for you. Get up, get ready, get out. Anything else was weird or felt wrong. You would get up, use the rest room, brush your teeth, make yourself look good, then dash out the door. So that's why when several of your classmates knocked at your door at 4 in the morning proposing you all went out as a "team bonding experience," you were very, very reluctant to go.

"Come on, Y/n! We even got Bakugo to go! You don't wanna be the only person staying behind, do you?" Mineta whined. You stared at him with the force of a thousand suns until he cowered behind Shoji.

"Ok. I'm going. Let me pack," you groaned, closing the door on Mineta's prying eyes. Once you were met with silence again, you took out a suitcase and packed clothes, tons of blankets, and your toothbrush. You heard hushed whispers behind your door, most of them surprised at you agreeing.

"Wow, she's really coming?"

"I know, I'm just as surprised as you are."

You huffed and threw in a box of tampons for good measure. Most of them were surprised because you were a loner. Even though you truly cared about them, you often snapped at them when they bothered you too much. They viewed you as a grumpy person who couldn't be pushed around, which was partially true. Well, actually mostly true. You were raised by a veteran and a veterinarian, two very similar career names, yet two very different people. The constant conflict of good and bad in your household, your mother treating you with kindness and respect and your father using a harsh, usually aggressive hand to raise you often made it hard to decipher what you really wanted.

As you got into your teenage years, you spent most of that time locked up in your room. You decided that if you were going to be someone, it would be someone plain, simple, and straight-forward. Not too harsh, not too lenient. And that's what you were. You cared deep down inside, but it was masked by layers of irony and apathy. Your classmates were blissfully unaware of how much you truly admired them, and you wanted to keep it that way. If they found out how much you loved them, then they would relentlessly try to be your friend. Bleh.

You walked out of your door and to your relief, they had all retreated away to the commons area. You made your way down and met up with the group, trying to ignore their continuous conversation about the trip. You didn't know how long it would be, but you decided that any time would be too long. You slung your bag over your shoulder and silently waited until someone announced where you would be going to. Which happened quickly, for Iida came right up behind you and started screaming directions.

"Okay everyone! We have three vans that several of us borrowed for the weekend. Those three vans should be enough for all of us to get in. Well, almost all. There are two people who have to drive my car. You can decide amongst yourselves. Quickly now," he announced. You groaned and dreaded the idea of being in a car, van, plane, tank, anything with these people. Although you loved them, you couldn't handle hours of driving with them. Everyone excitedly chose seat mates and decided who would be with who.

"Okay, we got everything figured out!" Momo said. She told who would be with who, explaining how far the ride was and little details like that. Knowing my luck, I'll be put in the car with the most annoying person, like Denki or Sero, you thought.  "Oh, and also, the two car mates are y/n and Sero. Alright, let's go!" She added on, picking up her bag and leading everyone out the door. Of course.

Sero and you were the last ones in the house, and he awkwardly laughed, clearly nervous to spend the next three hours in a car with the scariest girl he knew.

"Ahem," he cleared his throat, holding the front door so you could go out before him. "Well I guess you're the unluckiest of us all."

"We both know you are," you replied, to which he nervously chuckled and followed you to the car. You got in the passenger side and he climbed into the driver seat. Why did I have to be put with one of the cheeriest and most talkative people I know? We're complete opposites.

He turned the car on and started backing up. "So," he awkwardly said, "you like jazz?" He turned on the radio, avoiding your eyes.

"Is that a line from bee movie?" You sighed, trying not to laugh.

"Yes it is, ma'am. I have the best taste in movies as you will find out," he boasted. You rolled your eyes.

"When am I gonna find that out?" You prodded, clearly making him uncomfortable.

"Ah. Figure of speech," he said. You pursed your lips and looked at him, seeing him swallow thickly.

"How did you even get paired with me in the first place?" You asked.

He shrugged his shoulders. "All the other seats were taken, so the two leftovers, you and I, got put in the car," he explained.

"Yeah but like, don't you have friends that would want you to sit next to them?"

"Well I wasn't a part of the process, you see. As they discussed who sat where, I was busy trying to make everything fit in my suitcase." You cocked your eyebrow at him, intimidating him into telling the truth. Being the smart person you are, you figured that there must be some reason to your pairing. He had a ton of friends and they would most likely want him to sit in a van with them. You expected to be paired with one of the lesser liked people of the class, like Mineta or Bakugo. But you got Sero. It didn't add up.

You were right. "I asked Momo to make us sit in the car together," he reluctantly told you.

"Why would you do that to yourself?" You asked.

"Because I wanna get to know you. You're so mysterious and quiet so I wanted to see if I could make you laugh, or at least smile," he said. You couldn't take his compliments and all of his flattery, so you changed the subject.

"Have you ever been camping?" You asked.

"Nope. Never."

"Well I guess I'm gonna have to show you the ropes," you suggested.

"It can't be too hard. Just set up a tent and make some s'mores. Plain and simple, just like that," he rambled. You slowly nodded, ignoring how wrong everything he just said was.

The rest of the car ride went on without too much incident. You slowly started to warm up to Sero. Even though you were his complete opposite, your individual strengths complimented the others. He even made you laugh once or twice.

Finally, you reached the destination. It was a wide, empty clearing with a fire pit in the middle. Cabins surrounded the clearing. Oh, so it's not camping. We're sleeping in cabins and calling it camping.

You followed the girls into a cabin and set up your stuff in a bed in a far corner. You peeked out the window closest to your bed and saw Sero in the window across from yours. He saw you and waved slightly, which caused you to smirk. You waved back, then shut the curtains and resumed setting up your area. Momo brought a lamp so she could read, Hagakure brought a plush teddy bear, and Jirou brought an iPod.

As everyone got settled in, some people chose to go outside and fish, some talked, and some played games outside in the clearing. You decided to go on a hike and explore the area.

As you were walking on a path, you heard quick footsteps behind you and a voice call out. "Hey, wait up, y/n!" It yelled. Sero came up next to you, nearly breathless, and started walking.

"What are you doing here?" You asked.

"I saw you walk off and I had nothing else to do, so I came to keep you company," he grinned. You pretended to be disgusted, but deep down it touched you and made you appreciate his thoughtfulness.

"Well, keep up then. I'm a fast walker." He nodded and sped up his pace so he was right next to you, and gave a great deal of effort to do so. Sure, you walked faster now than you usually did, but it was funny to see how hard he tried to keep up.

"Jeez, you really are a fast walker. I'm barely keeping up," he wheezed. You let out a loud snort at the sight of him flailing his arms to gain momentum, then immediately flung your hand up to your mouth, praying he didn't hear it. Judging by the way he laughed, he definitely did. Your face went red as you stopped abruptly and faced him.

"I swear to god, if you ever tell anyone that that just happened, I will kill you," you threatened. He didn't seem too scared, cause he only laughed harder.

"That was amazing. I didn't even know you could laugh until today, much less snort!" He said loudly. You held up a finger, waving it to try and shush him.

"Shhhh! Someone might hear!" You scream-whispered. He bent down a little and looked side to side, pretending to look for any unknown spies in the shrubbery.

"Y/n," he said, putting his hand on your shoulder, "your secret is definitely safe with me. I promise."

"Don't patronize me Sero. They'll never let it go if they find out," you begged, pushing his hand off your shoulder. He thought about it for a second, and nodded, agreeing.

"Okay. I got you. Why don't you want them to know anyway?" He asked sincerely. You looked him in the eyes and sighed. You didn't know if you could trust him, but you didn't really care. You didn't mind his company so you took a leap and told him why.

"Because sometimes this class is brutal. This whole school is, really. And if hardening myself and not making friends makes getting through these next few years easier, then I'll take that over unending suffering," you explained.

"Why would making a friend lead to 'unending suffering?'" He asked, using air quotes and all.

"Because you lose friends and it's not worth the trouble. I don't know, as I'm saying this out loud it seems dumb, but I've always had that philosophy."

"I mean, it's dumb but it makes sense. Say, how about you try out this friendship thing with me? I'm a nice guy and I'll let you talk about guys who dump you," he offered. You laughed dryly and looked at your shoes.

"I've never actually gotten dumped before."

"Oh I see, you're always the one dumping someone. That makes more sense anyway."

"No, it's because I've never had a boyfriend," you said, shying away so he couldn't see how much you were blushing.

His jaw dropped slightly in disbelief that you had never had a boyfriend before. "W-What? There's noooo way. Honestly, that's kind of surprising," he stuttered, his face starting to turn pink as well. You inhaled slowly, breathing in the scent of pine and dirt.

"Well it's true. Thanks for rubbing it in, Sero. I guess I've always wanted that but guys are always too scared of me. I've just been waiting for a guy to come along who isn't scared to come up to me and talk to m-" you rambled, but you stopped talking as soon as you realized the person you were describing was Sero. He realized it too, and you could practically see cogs turning in his head, trying to figure out how to make sense of everything.

"Well, I don't think you're too scary. Deep down you're a big sweetheart, I can tell," he laughed nervously.

"I'm not too sure of that. I'd need someone who knows me well enough to tell me that," you sighed. His eyes lit up and he smiled.

"How about I be that person?" He exclaimed. You wrung your hands together, shocked at his sincerity and sweetness. You had always known that he was one of the goofier, nicer guys in the class but this was something different. He wasn't just saying this to flatter you. He really meant it.

"But how? You don't know me that well."

"Let me get to know you. I think that might fix your problem right there. And it works out great, cause you've always wanted a boyfriend, and I've always wanted to date you!" He said. As soon as he said the last part about dating you, you lost it. You smiled widely and your cheeks turned completely red. You didn't understand how someone could be that forward and honest about their feelings, but you really liked it.

"Well... okay. I'm not dating you yet, dummy. But we can get to know each other. How about that?" You proposed. He nodded and smiled.

"Well let's get back to the campsite, alright?" He said, taking the lead this time. You smiled to yourself one last time before you arrived to the campsite, then you put back on your facade of being nonchalant. No one would ever know about the snort now that you won over this guy. Although, you did look forward to being his friend, and possibly even more.

Maybe letting people in isn't that bad after all.
