You had no idea how Ochaco had talked you into a double-date with her and Izuku, especially since you didn't have a boyfriend or even a romantic interest of any sort. When you asked how a double date would work with you being the third wheel, she said, "No no no, Y/n! I'll figure it out. It'll be a surprise for you. Just dress nice and meet me at Lucky's at 7 tonight."
You didn't care much for the nearby diner that carried only American food like burgers and chicken strips, but its novelty alone brought in hundreds of guests a day. It seemed like a fun place for a first date, though you would probably find a way to make it awkward.
By the way she made it sound, this mystery date was a handsome, quiet, mysterious guy who needed some company. Although she probably sugar-coated him beyond what was necessary, it still made you excited to meet this guy.
As you were getting ready, you searched your closet, scavenging for at least something that wasn't sweat pants. At last, you composed an outfit that you thought looked good. You wore a maroon skirt with buttons up the front, fishnet stockings, a black tank top, and black boots.
You twirled around in front of your mirror, admitting to yourself that you looked really good. Your h/c hair was perfectly done, and your lips matched your skirt. You smiled at yourself and felt a giddy rush throughout your body.
You grabbed your purse and headed out the door. Lucky's was only a couple blocks away, so you decided to walk. You practically skipped the whole way there. It had been a while since you had actually gone on a date. And with Izuku and Ochaco there, they would help prevent any awkward conversations or silence.
You opened the door of the diner and saw Izuku and Ochaco sitting next to each other in a booth. The seat across from them was empty. So he's late, huh? That's no good.
You sat down and smiled at them, asking them about how their day was and making small talk. After about five minutes or so, you heard the bell to the diner door ring and felt a cool rush of air. You turned around to see who entered, but you had to do a double take. Your jaw dropped at the sight of Todoroki entering the building. His hair was wind-blown and his face looked placid. Todoroki? What is he doing here?
At first you thought he was only here on his own to have dinner by himself, but judging by how he was walking towards your booth and the look on his face, he was just as confused as you were. You snapped your head toward Ochaco and mouthed the words 'what is he doing here?'
She stifled laughter as Todoroki stood by the end of the table and exchanged greetings with Ochaco and Izuku. Then he turned to look at you.
"Hi, Y/n," he stated simply. You were a mess, trying to formulate a reason as to why he would be here.
"Hi, Todoroki. Uh, excuse me for a moment. Ochaco, could you come with me for a second?" You said, looking at Uraraka. She excused herself, and followed you to the bathroom. Todoroki looked at Izuku, sat down and didn't say a work. Izuku nervously asked Todoroki how to impress Ochaco while shooting a glance at the closing bathroom door.
As soon as the door closed, you said, "What the hell, Ochaco? This is my secret date? What were you thinking?" She sighed and put her hand on your shoulder.
"Listen, I know you hate me right now. But I'm really doing you a favor. You talk about him all the time. Whenever he walks into the room you basically melt. You can't say you haven't thought of going on a date with him, even one, y/n," she pleaded.
"I hate to admit it. You're right. I do like him. But I don't wanna get rejected. I wanna take it slow," you huffed. Her idea was a good one, but the idea of him leaving and not liking you back scared you too much to put on a brave face and go sit next to him.
"Your definition of taking it slow is never talking to him and constantly gawking at him during class. I just gave you a little push. Now please, go out there and work it. He's gonna love you!" She squealed. You laughed and shook your head. She had some crazy notions, but she did have a way of encouraging you. You opened the door, allowing her to walk out before you, and then followed her back to the booth where two very uncomfortable boys sat.
Thank god they're back, they both thought at the same time. Todoroki stood up so you could slide into the booth, then sat back down next to you. You had never sat so close to him.
He smells so good, you thought. You turned to look at him. His hands were folded in his lap and his head was pointed straight ahead. He looked bored. You started to wonder if being here was a good idea, you could be back at your apartment, alone with a book and your tv shows.
"So," Ochaco said, breaking the silence, "What are you guys thinking in terms of food?" She casually opened a menu, pointing at things and showing them to Izuku. Their faces were close as they both searched through the menu for something to eat.
You decided to do the same, opening the menu and scooting towards Todoroki. He glanced at it and gently took it out of your hands and flipped a couple pages. While he focused on the menu, you stared at his soft face. His cheeks were plump, but he somehow simultaneously bore a sharp jawline and cheekbones. His hair looked soft like cotton candy, and you desperately wanted to run your fingers through it.
"Ma'am? Ma'am?" You heard a voice say, sending you back down to earth. You pushed the daydream out of your mind and looked at the stout waitress smiling at you. You smiled back, ordered, and tried not to let Todoroki notice your enormous blush.
As the minutes went on, everyone started to relax. Shoto's hands remained in the same place, but he occasionally cracked a joke or let himself smile a little. You started to wonder why his hands remained rigid in that one spot, unmoving. But then it hit you. Is he... hard right now? Racy thoughts flew through your mind, but you pushed them out hurriedly.
Izuku had grabbed Ochaco's hand and brushed some hair off her cheek once in a while. Their flirtatious banter made it all the more awkward for you and your date, but you how no idea how to diffuse the situation. You were on a date with a hot guy whom you had barely talked to and you desperately wanted to be with. But here you were, not saying anything, not making a move, not even daring to even look at him.
The time went on, and the diner started to empty out. Thoughts swirled around your head wildly. How do I make tonight not a complete failure? How do I make him like me? What do I say?
A waiter came up to your table, took your plates, and made you aware that it was closing time. You all split the check equally, and started for the door.
Ochaco started pulling Izuku off, winking at you as she left. She's leaving us alone on purpose! Dammit...
"Todoroki, I-" you started, before he cut you off.
"I'm sorry I didn't talk or anything. That diner isn't really my kind of place, and those two kind of distracted me," he said flatly. You smiled and nodded understandingly. He gave you a closed smile back. He towered over you by a lot, and his dominating presence made you blush.
"Do you want to walk me home?" You asked. He nodded and took your hand in his and started the short walk home. His hand was big compared to yours, and you were on his hot side so it was really toasty.
You looked up at Todoroki and saw that he was already looking down at you. He smiled a little, and you felt a blush dust your cheeks. He released your hand and put his arm around your shoulders, keeping you warm. Your apartment came into view, and you felt a little sad. You wanted to spend more time with him, but it was late, and this was only your first date.
As you reached the front steps, he turned to face you, peering down into your eyes. His cheeks were red, but you assumed it was from the cold breeze blowing throughout the city. He looked sweet and shy and confident all at the same time. His glossy lips were wet from him nervously licking his lips, and they looked so kissable.
"Y/n, I really liked spending time with you tonight," he said.
"Me too, it was great. Maybe we could do it again."
"Oh, we're definitely doing this again," he grinned slyly. You laughed and fluttered your eyelashes at him. He bit his lip, then put his hand on your chin, tilted it up, and kissed you. Your heart beat crazily as his other hand slithered around your waist, pulling you closer to his body.
His tongue entered your mouth and searched around for yours. His icy hot breath poured into your mouth and his tongue flicked the roof of your mouth delicately. He pulled back for a second, then pecked your lips again. You stared at him speechlessly. You had never expected to kiss your crush, but here you were, making out with him after a date.
"D-do you wanna come in?" You stuttered.
"Is that even a question?"
He followed you into the building, and you slammed the door behind you.
