You were going to do it. You were going to tell Monoma how you felt about him. You had finally gathered up the courage after knowing him for a year. You congratulated yourself after reading your confession that you had written out neatly on a piece of notebook paper.
Monoma,
You are what I have been waiting for. I know that you haven't always gotten along with me, especially since I'm in class 1-A. But I've always wanted to know you. And ever since I got the courage to be your friend, my life has improved so much. It's like there's a connection between us that's making it so I can't help but smiling.
The point is, I love you. You don't have to love me back, but I couldn't hold it in anymore. So now you know. And I'm only being this bold because of my feelings for you. I know what I'm feeling is real, so I'm not going to hide it. It's not that I'm not afraid, it's that I can't go another day without you.
Y/N
Your little confession letter was short and sweet, just what he would like. You were afraid that if it was too long, he would get bored halfway through and throw it away before he even read the important parts. You stared at the crisp, perfect paper. It didn't show the thousand rewrites that had occurred on thousands of other papers. With your final draft complete and satisfactory, it all seemed much more real. Especially as your folded it up slowly, creasing the edges harshly.
You could only muster the courage to write a letter. You couldn't even begin to think about telling him in person. He already made you weak in the knees as it was. You didn't really know when you began to feel that way. Sure, he was really attractive, but usually when you talked to people that blunt, you didn't really find them interesting. Maybe it was at the sports festival. Or when you trained together. All you knew is that it happened fast, and now you couldn't shake that feeling.
Your good friend, Kendo, agreed to deliver your letter to him. You got ready for school quickly and then rushed to get there on time. You saw Kendo in the hallway, and gave it to her. She winked at you, showing she would do everything perfectly. That was just like her. She would take care of anyone who asked for it. Even people who couldn't confess that they needed help, like Monoma, got her guidance. She was always the one keeping Monoma from going too far. While she did think that he was a little crazy, she understood your feelings and didn't ask questions or doubt you when you shyly told her how you loved him. She just nodded and hugged you.
Now that the wheels were set in motion, you didn't have any other choice but to wait. You were extremely glad that you weren't in the same class as him. You couldn't look him in the eyes as it was. You went through the day normally, pushing down the occasional reminder of your plan. You passed Kendo in the hallway after lunch, and she winked at you. Monoma had the note now. He probably had already read it. He was probably looking for you now. He was probably taking out his phone to call you and talk to you. Sweat beaded on your forehead as you rushed to your next class, hiding behind a book sheepishly.
The day was almost over, and Monoma still hadn't tried to talk to you. In fact, you hadn't even seen him at all. You walked around the hallways, craning your neck to look for him, but no matter how hard you tried, you couldn't find him. It felt disappointing. All you could do now was swallow the harsh feelings of rejection and go through with your day, even if it felt nearly impossible to do so.
Once you finally caught a glimpse of him while passing by the library, you couldn't resist blushing. He obviously noticed, and didn't try to hide his amusement. You sat next to him in the library, pulling out your math homework silently. He smirked a little, which you thought was strange. You expected him to make fun of you (in a not too mean way, of course). You thought he would at least burst out in laughter. However, he did none of these. Did he really respect you that much? Or was there another reason?
