Chapter 39: The Big Question

Anakin POV

I had been in the middle of reading over some pages on my data pad when suddenly the door to my room opened and in stormed my padawan, looking very unhappy.

"Woah kid, what's up?" I asked as she stamped her foot on my floor.

"I can't believe it!"

"Can't believe what?"

"ThatAlexaisgoingtohaveababyandshesgoingtoleaveus!" All of her words were spoken so fast that it came out as one big blur and I looked at her confused.

"Alright Maya, take a deep breath, in and out..in and out... Ok?" I helped her calm down then we came and sat on my bed, but could sense she was still angry. "So what's going on? What's got you so hyped up?"

"It's Alexa!"

"What about her?" I wondered if there was anything wrong with my friend then I remembered that she had been ill lately. "Is she ok?"

"No she's not ok! I just found out that she's going to have a baby!" She shrieked and flopped back so that she was lying on my bed while I stared at her for a moment in shock before shaking my head. That couldn't be right!

"What do you mean she's having a baby?! Maya where did you hear that? You do know roughly what has to happen to make a baby right? There's just no way that Alexa could be pregnant!"

"Of course I know how babies are made, jeez Anakin! I'm not a little kid!" She rolled her eyes and gave an exasperated sigh. "Look, I just over heard Alexa telling Master Yoda that she was pregnant!"

"Ok ok! Calm down for a second Maya! We don't need to scream so that everyone can hear you."

"Oh... Right." She looked embarrassed for a moment only to growl. "It's just not fair, what was she thinking? Now she's going to be kicked out of the Order and we'll never get to see her again!" She hissed, keeping her voice down while seeming to whisper scream.

"Maya you don't know that." I shook my head. "You probably just miss heard. How did you hear that anyway?" I asked suspiciously.

"Well after breakfast I went to find Alexa to see if she was feeling better but when I got near her room I saw her walk out with another lady that I hadn't seen before. I wondered what they were doing and I followed them to see where they were going. On the way I tried to listen to them talking but all I heard was that the other lady was a doctor and her name is Dr Nema."

"So where did you hear that Alexa is going to have a baby?"

"I'm just getting to that!" She snapped, causing me to be taken aback. "Sorry. So I followed them to Master Yoda's private meditation room and while they stood outside I sense that Alexa was scared about something, but I couldn't tell what. When they went it I kinda.... Pressed my ear against the door."

"You eaves dropped on Master Yoda?! Maya you shouldn't do that!"

"Hush! Now who's yelling?" She asked and smirked at me, causing me to roll my eyes.

"Sorry, but you're not meant to do things like that."

"Well if I hadn't we wouldn't have found this out, would we? You should be thanking me because at least now you'll know why she's leaving when she goes." I shook my head, I'd had enough of this. I needed to go and ask Alexa myself if this was true, I just hoped her answer would be no. I got up to my feet and went to the door. "Where are you going?"

"To see Alexa." With that I left.

It didn't take me long to find my old padawan, she was in her room sitting on her bed, clutching a bucket in her hands. She looked up at me with teary eyes as I entered and I could tell that something was obviously wrong.
