Amerie

I open my eyes, the room is mildly lit as the sun peaks through the curtains casting faint rays on the wall. I let out a light yawn, everything felt perfect, I felt fresh. I was content and I was comfortable the blankets were so warm and soft and I felt like they were hugging me tight giving me relaxing sense of safety. With a smile on my face I turn my head only to be in for the biggest shock of my life.

"WHAT THE FUCK?!" I turn over to see Jay laying in bed next to me with his arms around my waist. I punch his arm causing him to get up.

"Come on Amerie... again? This is like the fifth time." Jay says his voice deep and husky. My eyes widen at the words that escaped his mouth.

"Excuse me? The fifth time what?"

"I-I just need to relax for a few more minutes before we do this again."

I punch his arm again but harder and he opens his eyes.

"What the hell are you talking about? WHY ARE YOU IN MY BED?!"

"You wanted me-..."

"Oh my God. Did we? No no no no NO!" I release myself from his hold and sit on the edge of the bed. "You sick bastard. What the hell happened last night?" I pick up a pillow and toss it at him and he sits up. "Oh my God did you take advantage of me? Did you slip something in my drink because the last thing I remember is sitting on the couch with you."

"Okay first of all. good morning to you too, second of all I didn't slip you anything. Third of all, we didn't do anything, trust me, a night with me you're bound to remember. And lastly, you freaked the fuck out last night. I was here because you asked me to be here." he yawns and the continues. "Throughout the night you were having night terrors. You would wake up screaming, crying, and kicking. You asked me to stay until you fell asleep but I chose to stay longer because I didn't wanna run the risk of you hurting yourself."

Well damn Amerie... don't you feel like the biggest dick in the box.

"Jay I-"

"No it's cool." he cut me off.  "Do you remember taking anything last night?"

"Other than my medicine... no."

Jay slides off the bed grabbing his belongings.

"I'll go talk to Kairi, go freshen up." Jay heads towards the door and I sense of guilt tingles in my stomach.

"Jay?"

"Hmm?"

"Thank you." I say with a small smile.

"No need to thank me. I told you I'm here to protect you, not hurt you." He leaves the room leaving me in my room alone. His words play in my head over and over again. I'm here to protect you, not hurt you. Despite the last few days being a rollercoaster for the first time since being around him I believed him... I trusted him...and now? I actually don't hate him.

I scan the room with my eyes searching for my crutches but I don't see them anywhere. Just then my door opens and in comes Jay holding my crutches.

"I'm pretty sure you still need these." He says handing them to me.

I take them and smile. "Thanks." he leaves the room and I head to the bathroom.

I run the water as I lean against the sink and get undressed. The bathroom fogs up quickly and I step into the shower. The water trails down my body, the heat and the steam sending blissfulness and warmth throughout. I close my eyes letting peace a wash over me.
