Chapter Five

He was staring at the door for a couple of minutes before he decided to ring the bell. He was hesitating if he should go see her tonight or if he should head back home and sleep.

It was a heck of a day for him, after almost failing his mission. Thankfully, Sniper didn't bother to spill his stupidity back in the headquarters or else, he would have been skinned alive by his father.

But then again, he is a man of his words and he is just doing this because he was just being polite to a customer and he was just being a gentleman.

Seryosong mukha ang isinalubong niya sa dalaga nang pagbuksan siya nito ng pinto. Dapat ay propesyunal lang ang akto niya at wala nang sosobra pa roon. Ayaw niyang mag-isip ito ng ibang dahilan kung bakit niya iyon ginagawa.

"Oh I thought you won't stop by tonight." Bungad nito sa kanya. "Kumain ka na ba? Gusto mo na ipaghanda kita ng hapunan? Iinitin ko na lang yung niluto kong chicken afritada." Nataranta ito ng kaunti sa presensya niya.

"Don't bother anymore, I will just set this up for installation. This won't take long so I'll be leaving after." Aniya at dumirecho na siya sa loob ng bahay.

He needs to be frank and should go straight to the point. They are not friends after all to be so polite and friendly.

Sinimulan na niyang ayusin ang mga dala niyang gadget para maikabit na niya agad at nang makauwi na rin siya.

"I was trying to call you a few hours ago but you weren't answering your phone, and then you turned it off after. Did I called you on a bad time? Or have I interrupted you in any sort of way?" Tanong nito na nagpatigil sa kanyang ginagawa.

Umangat ang tingin niya rito habang ito naman ay naghihintay sa sagot niya. Napahawak siya nang mahigpit sa tools na kanyang hawak para makontrol ang emosyon niya.

"Yes you did. I was in the middle of my assignment when you called. I can't just answer my phone whenever I want." Sagot niya na gusto pa sana niyang dugtungan.

And you almost had me blew up my mission back there. I hate it when someone was compromising or jeopardizing my job!

Anas niya sa isip na nais sana niyang isatinig ngunit hindi niya ginawa.

"I-I'm s-sorry. Hindi ko sinasadya na istorbohin ka sa trabaho mo kanina."

Naramdaman naman niya ang sinseridad sa tono ng boses nito pero ayaw na niyang magpa-apekto pa. Tama lang siguro na malaman nito na hindi sila pupwedeng magturingan na parang close na sila sa isa't isa.

They should set some boundaries and never get too close to each other. It's for their own good.

"It's fine. Just next time, don't visit me at my work place to bring food.
And don't call me too. You can send me a text message or if you have any concern with these security gadgets, you can call or visit my store and my staff will assist you. I'm a busy man, Miss Aguirre." Prankang litanya niya sa dalaga.

Napatango na lang ito at hindi na nagawa pang sagutin ang mga sinabi niya. Marahil ay nahimigan nito ang pagiging pormal ng pananalita niya.

He knows he sounded cold and cruel, and arrogant. But he needs to do that in order to show her that he wasn't the friendly type of guy. Yeah, he did saved her twice but he was just doing what he was trained for and nothing else. He was not doing this because he wanted to look heroic in front of her. He's doing this because it is his job as a soldier.

Save as many as you can. Protect the innocent.
