CHAPTER 21
"You want to court me? Why?"
Hindi dapat siya magulat dahil iyon naman talaga ang goal niya. Ngunit hindi niya inasahan na kahit kaunti pa lang ang kaniyang ginagawa ay kakagat na agad ang senador sa kaniyang pain.
Matagal siyang tiningnan sa mga mata ng binata. Punong-puno ng emosyon ang mga mata nito ngunit mahahalatang kinakabahan.
"Because I like you since you were eighteen," he confessed. His face were red.
Napanganga si Yana sa narinig.
"Since I was eighteen? Wow! That's . . . that's seven years, Nicholas! How come I didn't notice?"
Because you were busy hating him, sagot ng isang parte ng kaniyang isipan.
Lihim siyang napailing dahil doon.
"Maybe I hid it too well?" he said shyly.
Mukhang teenager ang binata na umamin sa crush nito.
Even though Yana was shocked by what Nicholas told her, she felt the urge to pinch his cheek, but she immediately stopped herself from doing so.
Ang cute kasi!
"Wait . . ." she uttered whe she realized something. "Ilang beses kitang nahuling nakatingin sa 'kin, you've also given me free refreshments during our advertisement project, then the lunch you've ordered for me . . . OMG! Ikaw, a! Kaya naman pala . . ."
Mas lalong namula ang mukha at tainga ng senador. He was caught red handed. Natawa si Yana sa naging reaksyon nito.
"I thought walang hidden agenda yung mga 'yon? Na hindi ka manliligaw?"
Nicholas cleared his throat.
"I didn't answer you back then, but it didn't mean I won't court you. I just told you that it was too early to answer your question."
Napataas ang kilay ni Yana.
"So you think now's the right time?"
Humugot ito nang malalim na hininga bago lakas-loob na sumagot.
"Yes . . ."
"What are you thinking whenever you secretly stare at me?" Yana asked curiously. She was trying to drop the first topic.
Pakiramdam niya kasi ay malulunod siya sa sobrang pagkaseryoso ng senador.
"Nothing. Just purely admiring your beauty," anito habang nakatingin sa kaniyang mga mata.
It was Yana's turn to blush. She did not expect that the senator would be more serious in his answer.
"Ehe! Enebe? Pereng shere nemen!" pabirong ani Yana sa pabebeng boses habang nakatingin sa gilid.
Nicholas' laughter boomed around the room, but it was immediately followed by a sharp gasp. Nang lingunin ni Yana si Nicholas ay naabutan niya ang magkahalong pikit at ngiwi sa mukha nito habang nakasapo sa tagilirang may tahi.
"Ayan, tatawa ka pa kasi," naiiling na sermon niya. "Sobrang sakit ba? Should I call a nurse?"
Akmang pipindutin ni Yana ang nurse call emergency button na nasa itaas ng kama ng senador nang umiling ito bilang sagot.
Nicholas just took some slow and deep breaths before he shifted position.
"Okay ka na?" Yana asked in a concern tone.
"Yes, thank you."
"I didn't do anything, though . . ."
"But you're here. That's enough to make me feel better."
