CHAPTER 29
Hawak-kamay na umalis ng The Fort sina Nicholas at Yana. They went to the mall as per Yana's request because she needed to buy her beauty essentials.
The senator was tailing Yana with a basket in his hand while his girlfriend was busy with shopping. The people inside the beauty store were staring at the couple but no one dared to approach them because of Nicholas' incognito bodyguards.
Pagkatapos makapili ni Yana ng mga bibilhin ay dumiretso sila sa counter. Akmang bubunot ng wallet ang senador nang pigilan ito ni Yana.
"No, sweetie . . . I'll pay for my things. I got this."
"No, I insist. Consider it as my gift."
Napangisi si Yana.
"So you're playing as the generous gentleman boyfriend now, huh? Okay, if you insist."
Ngumiti lang si Nicholas saka itinuloy ang pagbunot ng isang black credit card mula sa wallet nito.
What a show off! gusto sana iyong isantinig ni Yana ngunit pinigilan niya ang sarili.
Nagpabalik-balik ang tingin sa kanila ng babaeng cashier habang nagpipigil ng ngiti. Pagkatapos nitong mai-process ang payment at maibalot ang pinamili ay magalang itong nagpaalam sa kanila.
"Thank you so much, Miss Cervantes and Senator Ybarra. Please visit our store, again! Have a great day!"
Bukod sa VIP si Yana sa beauty store na iyon ay kilalang personalidad at politiko si Nicholas kaya hindi na rin kataka-takang kilala sila ng cashier.
They spent the afternoon in shopping. Ang boutique ng international brand ng damit na kanilang huling pinuntahan. Kaagad silang inasikaso ng mga staff na naroon. Sa couple section dinala ni Yana ang senador.
"What's your shirt size, love?" tanong niya nang huminto siya sa tapat ng rack ng mga shirt.
"Double XL . . . Are we settling with 'love' as our official endearment, now or are you gonna try more endearments to find what suits best?" tanong nito nang mapansing nag-iba na naman siya ng tawag dito.
Yana looked at Nicholas and faked a thinking expression.
"Hmm . . . what do you think? Honeybunch, sugarplum, sweet cake-sheesh! It's all sweet! How about toothache or diabetes? I dunno . . . Maybe you help me choose."
A hearty laugh escaped the senator's mouth because of Yana's effortless humor.
"What? Ang hirap kaya mag-isip ng endearment dito. Babe and baby are definitely out of the options. Sweetheart is already reserved for my sister. Hon, honey, or love are fine but could be improved. What else? Hmm . . . I'm not really knowledgeable in this department 'coz I've been single for seven years-same as you, to be fair enough."
Natigilan si Nicholas at napakunot ang noo.
"Wait, you've had a boyfriend before? I didn't know that."
Yana let out a sarcastic laugh.
"Oh, well . . . only a few people knew about it-not even my parents. It's not important, anyways. Just a short-lived so-called teenage romance turned that into a nightmare. Who cares about that?" kibit-balikat na aniya saka kumuha ng dalawang polo shirts. Isang black with white stripes at isang plain black na double XL.
"Noted. With stripes or plain?" pag-iiba niya ng topic saka iniharap ang mga polo shirt na naka-hanger sa senador.
Matagal siyang pinagkatitigan ni Nicholas, tila may gusto pang itanong ngunit sa huli ay nagkibit-balikat na lang din.
