Mayleen's POV:

"May wake up, time to go to work." Charlie yelled through the door. He kept on knocking but I didn't feel like answering. I don't want to go to work. I just want to lay here all day. The knocking got louder so I had no choice but to answer.

"5 more minutes." I groaned, and pull the covers up. I went back to sleep. It must've been more then 5 minutes because Charlie pulled the covers down, making the bright sun hit my face. I groaned.

"I was nice so I gave you 10 minutes, now get up, you're late." Charlie went to stand by the door, leaning against it, and crossing his arms across his chest. When I still didn't wake up, he did a countdown under his breath. 3.. 2.. 1.. What is he doin-

Aaahhh! I fell off the bed. He turned on a loud beeping noise. It got me by surprise. Well played Charlie, well played.

"Jerk!" I yelled, throwing a pillow at him. It missed. He left my room laughing.

I hate mondays.

"Why are you so reluctant to go to work today? No scratch that, wake up today?" He asked, as I got out of the room.

"Honestly, I just feel tired, I have no idea why." I went in the bathroom and closed the door. My throat hurts, I think I'm coming down with a cold. I want to stay home, but then my salary would be cut. Then I won't have enough money for the month. I quickly brush the thought of staying home and got into the shower.

When I got out of the bathroom, breakfast was already on the table. And suprisingly it was my favorite, scamble eggs, bacon, and toast. He also made me hot coffee. Now this is what I need to get my energy up and running.

"Wow this is delicious." I squeeled.

"Well, enjoy, I think you just need a yummy breakfast to get through another day of work."

"You are so right." I said nodding, while stuffing food in my mouth.

"Woah, slow down May, you're gonna choke." Charlie said grabbing a sit. I slowed down. A bit. What? A girl can't eat like this when they're hungy, but boys can?

After breakfast, as usual, he drove me to work, offer to pick me up later, in which I always decline, and drove to campus. Me? Well, another day of tiresome work.

The whole day I didn't feel so good. I kept getting tired really fast, my throat is killing me, and now I have this killer headache. What is going on with me today? I shook my head, took a deep breath and went back to work.

"Woah May I think you need a rest." Elizabeth adviced. I was carrying trays when suddenly everything went blurry. Elizabeth caught me just in time. One more second and I would've crashed to the floor. I nodded my head and went to sit down on one of the stools.

"Hey, the boss went home already, and I don't mind taking over for you? Go home and rest." Elizabeth patted my back. She has been so nice to me.

"Really? Thanks Elizabeth." I said giving her a thankful smile. She gave me a nod and smiled back.

I called Lili to tell her I can't come today. Then I went to the bus station and wait for the next bus. It was really cold, and the sky was grey.

I was just sitting there when a car suddenly passed me, and splashed road water all over me.

"Hey watch it!" I yelled, but the car was already too far away to even hear it. Great now I am cold and wet.

It was 30 minutes later when the bus appeared. I got in, paid my bus fare, and went to sit down. My headache was getting worse and so did my throat. I felt like passing out there, but I kept holding on. Passing out on a bus at night? Yeah sure by tomorrow I won't even know where I am.

When I got to the loft, I opened the door, and as usual was greeted by Sophie.

"I'm sorry girl, mommy needs to sleep first ok, I'll feed you later."

I couldn't make it to my bedroom, so I passed out on the couch.

***********************************************

Charlie's POV:

"See you tomorrow Dave, don't forget to do the project." I said, opening my car door.

"Yeah, yeah Randall I'll have it by tomorrow." Dave replied waving his hands.

We both drove off in the opposite direction. It was really cold outside. Hope Mayleen gets home safely later.

I opened the door to my apartment, and was not greeted by Sophie. She always welcomes me home. That's weird. I looked down on floor, and saw Mayleen's shoes. She usually put them in the shoe cabinet, when she gets home. Wait? She's home? If she is, where is she?

I was walking towards my room, when I saw Mayleen sleeping on the couch, with Sophie curled up on top of her. I called Sophie to eat, because that's the only way she would get off of Mayleen. Then I went to check on Mayleen. She looked so pale. I touched her forehead and it was freezing. She must have gotten a cold. Wow she was serious when she said she was tired. She must be cold here.

I picked her up, and brought her to her room. I tucked her in, then turned on her mini heater. I wanted to make her my famous chicken soup, but then I don't think she would wake up at all tonight. So I decided to get a small towel and some hot water.

I dipped the towel in the hot water, and put it on her forehead. After repeating the process several times, her temperature finally went back to normal. That's good. But maybe tomorrow she shouldn't go to work.

I went to make a call to the restaurant owner, asking if Mayleen can get a paid day off.

"Hey Jimmy! How you doing?" I spoke, when Jimmy, the owner picked up.

"My boy! Haven't heard from you in a long time."

"Yeah sorry school work you know."

"Why yes the most stressful part of a boy's life." He joked. I could hear him laughing from the other line. I laughed along with him.

"How's everything?" I asked, making small conversation.

"My restaurants are doing a fantastic job, you should come by to my new restaurant sometimes. Well its almost made but not yet, it'll be ready in a couple of months."

"I sure will, wouldn't miss it."

"So you still keep in touch with Brandon?" The truth is no I haven't. I haven't seen him since elementry school, when my parents decided to move. I don't know why but we never contacted each other after that. Brandon was my childhood best friend. We've known each other since birth really. Our parents are bestfriends.

"Charlie?" I guess I blanked out for too long.

"Not really, but I'll be sure to contact him soon. Thanks for reminding me."

"Hahahaa ok." He replied.

"Hey Jimmy can I ask you a favour?"

"Sure."

"Is it ok if Mayleen takes a day off? She has this bad cold, and I don't think she can work tomorrow."

"Who's Mayleen?"

"One of your employees from Mr. Steer near McGill. She's a close friend of mine, so please?"

"Ok sure, that won't be a problem. I'll make the call to the manager right away."

"Thank you so much Uncle Jim. I owe you one." I thanked him.

"No problem." He chuckled.

"Well thanks again, hey I gotta go. Talk to you soon."

"You too my boy." I hung up the phone.

Ok back to putting hot towel on Mayleen's forehead.
