Mayleen's POV:
Months had passed, and nothing had changed. Well almost. Guess what? I'm not a waitress anymore. Yep, you heard me right. Well you're probably wondering how, well..
It all started a month ago...
Flashback
"Lizzie, how many times do I have to tell you, that customer is waiting for her food, that is oh yeah right there." I said pointing to the tray of food next to Elizabeth.
"Oh of course I'm sorry." She shook her head. She was about to leave when I touched her arm.
"Hey you ok? You seemed a bit off today?" I asked as a concerned bestfriend. She just nodded her head and tried to smile.
"Its that boyfriend of your again wasn't it?" I asked her, there was a hint of anger in my voice. I hated that boyfriend of hers. He always made her sad. He's always angry for no reason. But everytime I try to tell her that she said that's not the real him I saw. Like please really?
She just smiled again and went to serve the costumer. I shook my head, in disapproval. One day she'll get a guy who deserved her, who she deserves. Who's kind, sweet, romantic, and doesn't treat her like trash.
My shift had just ended. It was cold and really dark outside. Elizabeth went home already. Charlie can't pick me up today because he needed to study. So today I am taking the bus.
I was waiting at a bus stop. I saw a man jabbering on his cell phone. It was a quite night. It had been 15 minutes and the bus hadn't arrived yet.
That's when it happened. The man that was arguing on his phone was too distracted to see a car coming at him. He was trying to cross the road to my side. I remembered making a split second decision. I didn't warn him nor did I speak. I just ran to him and pushed us both out of the way with all my might.
I've seen people in movies only pushing the person out of the road, and got hit themselves by the car. I am not that stupid. If I'm going to save someone's life, I better still keep mines.
We were both panting. "You ok?" I said getting off of him.
"I- I, yes thank you young lady, you just saved my life." He said still shocked by the event. I helped him get up. "Thank you so much. I don't know how to repay you." He looked like he's in his 50's, a business man perhaps?
"It was no problem, just glad I could save a life." I said smiling. He looked at me for a moment.
"Here's my card, please come meet me tomorrow in the cafe next to Mr. Steer. I owe you my life. The least I can do is give you a decent job. You're the waitress working in the burger shop right? Mr. Steer." He asked. I nodded.
"Please meet me tomorrow. I'll be heartbroken if you don't show up. Now I have to get home before my wife gets worried. Well goodbye for now." He waved goodbye and got into his car. I waved back.
The bus finally came. I got in. I took a sit, and looked out the window. Should I take the offer?
Present
"Hello? May french toasts or waffles? Can you hear me?" Charlie said waving his hands in front of my face.
"What? Oh um french toasts." I said snapping out of my thoughts.
"Finally, its like you were in another planet for a minute there. Is this about your new job? Relax you're doing good so far. No complaints, and a lot of praises. I think that's good."
"Yeah I guess. But its not that. Its my new boss. He makes me uncomfortable." I said.
"Why is he doing something to you? Cos I swear I will..."
