chapter four

Johnny's pov:

it was another long and tiring of high school. none of my classes that I had Mackenzie felt the same. we would normally sit next to each other in all of the classes we have together. I don't even want to do even attempt to do any of my homework. I only want to see Kenzie. i walk out of my bedroom and down the hall to Lauren's room. I simply knocked on her door.

Lauren: “come in!”

Johnny: “hey, I'm going to see Kenzie. can you tell Mom when she gets home from work?”

Lauren: “I'll tell Mom, also tell me if she's doing better”.

Johnny: “I will let you know, bye Laur”.

Lauren: “bye John”.

I close her door and walk back to my room and grab my car keys. I walk outside to the driveway and unlock my car. I start the engine and fasten my seatbelt. I backed out of the driveway and started making my way to the hospital.

about half way to the hospital Mackenzie's favorite song was on the radio. her favorite song was 'Someone you loved' by Lewis Capaldi. I sang along to every second of the song while thinking about Mackenzie.

i arrived at the hospital and walked to the front desk to make sure that I was aloud to visit Mackenzie. I walked over to the elevator and pressed the button. when the doors opened I walked inside quickly and press the fourth floor button. I took my phone out of my pocket to pass by the time until the doors opened once again.

i walked into Mackenzie's room and closed the door behind me. Mackenzie's step dad Greg was sitting a few feet away from the bed.

Johnny: “hi Greg”.

Greg: “hey Johnny, what's up?”

Johnny: “i just wanted to stop by. how long have you been here for?”

Greg: “not that long. I'm on break from work so I thought I would stop by. I should probably go back to work. bye Johnny”.

Johnny: “alright, by Greg”.

I watched him get up and leave the room. I pulled a chair over to the bedside and interlocked my fingers with Mackenzie's.

Johnny: “hi Kenz, I'm here”.

she didn't squeeze my hand this time. I looked at her face and noticed her eyes move through her eyelids. I glanced over at her monitor and noticed her heart rate increased a little. i lightly smiled.

for the next three hours I sat in the same spot at the bedside holding her hand. Melissa stopped by for a little bit but didn't stay very long. I missed dinner and I'm not quite sure how my mom is going to feel about that.

Johnny: “hey Mack z. you're making improvements already. maybe soon you will wake up? I really want you to wake up right now. your friends and family need you. I'm going to get ready to leave. I missed dinner because I was here with you. I will be back tomorrow after school”.

I kissed her forehead and walked out of the room. I really need her to wake up from this coma.
